Bird’s Eye View
What do you do when you really want to know how a course is laid out before you play it? But you just don’t have the time, money or contacts to get your butt into a helicopter, blimp or low-flying plane to do a course fly-over? Man, don’t you just hate not having a helicopter at your personal disposal at all times?!
I have good news, and I have bad news. First, the bad. You’ll most likely never have a helicopter at your personal disposal, nor will you convince the kind folk at Goodyear to loan you their blimp…sorry.
FlyOver or Zoom In
Now, the good news…it doesn’t matter, well, as much. We just found a pretty cool little service called GolfFlyover.com, while it needs some work…it does get rid of the need for a helicopter or a blimp. GolfFlyover.com site does the leg work for you and gives you arial views of thousands of courses and even offers actual flyovers of the courses themselves. If a flyover isn’t available for your course, they will still give you the courses entire layout, zoomable down to almost the tee-box.
Never Seen Augusta? You Can Now!
Nevertheless, with a simple click of the mouse you can see exactly what holes you’ll be soon facing in your quest to dominate your favorite foursome. After all, course knowledge goes a heck of a lot further than most people would like to admit.
Want even better news? If you just so happen to be checking out a course you’ll be playing while on a trip or vacation, GolfFlyover.com also provides links to nearby hotels, restaurants and even gives you direct driving directions. Not too shabby…not to shabby at all. Now if they just came up with unique ideas for your non-golfing travel companions, we’d REALLY be onto something. How about a service that auto-books massages for all of our girlfriends and wives that choose not to hit the links with us? They’d love our golf vacations then!
Being able to see the twists, the turns, the bunkers and the hazards that you’ll soon be playing can give you a unique advantage over those that only see it from the ground level. Something about seeing it from the air makes you see the course in a new way, makes you feel like you’re playing a course that’s been televised on NBC and gives you a quick FlyOver-view of what to expect.
Tell Us Your Opinion…Would You Use It?
In short, I love it. The question is, how do your courses stack up on this service? Did it find them? Did it get a full Flyover? Does it just show the layout? We would love to know how you found this service to be, and what you’d change if you were the brains behind the operation. So speak your mind…what would you like to see on GolfFlyover.com?
