5 Smartest Wedge Buys For 2026

Wedges decide your score yet they’re the clubs golfers wait the longest to replace.

Why?

Part of the reason is that it’s hard to know what you’d be buying. In our testing, most wedges perform almost identically on a full swing. The difference shows up at 50 yards and in the wet where some wedges hold their spin and others lose more than half of it.

In 2026, the Kirkland Signature (our best overall wedge) is a smart buy for many golfers but you already know that. For this list, I focused on the best of the rest and I looked for the following performance benefits:

  1. It performs in every condition. We test full swings, 50-yard shots and 50-yard shots in the wet. A wedge that fails in one of them isn’t doing its job.
  2. The price is justified. It doesn’t have to be cheap but premium wedges run about $180 or more so it has to earn it.
  3. You’ll still be glad you bought it next season. That comes down to feel, grind options and whether it suits the way you play.

Here are the 5 Smartest Wedge Buys for 2026, counting down.

5. Cleveland RTZ

The RTZ does something most wedges can’t. When we added water to our 2025 test, the RTZ gained spin, finishing at 105.3 percent of its dry number, the best wet retention of any wedge that year. It scored an 8.4 overall and accuracy (8.2) is the softest part of its game. If you play early tee times or damp courses, the Cleveland RTZ behaves the same way every round and makes for a smart buy.

4. TaylorMade MG5

The Milled Grind line won our wedge tests for years before the PING S159 took the title in 2024. It was the 2025 runner-up at 8.8 overall with a 9.1 for consistency. It was also one of the best wedges in the test for dispersion and carry-distance control and it held 98.4 percent of its spin in the wet. If you want a wedge that does the same thing shot after shot, the MG5 is a safe bet.

3. Titleist Vokey SM10

The SM10 was the most accurate wedge in our 2024 test of 26 wedges, scored 9.1, and had the best subjective appeal of any wedge we tested. With the SM11 now on shelves, the SM10 is the previous generation and our data says it’s still one of the best wedges we’ve tested. If you want Vokey’s grind options and accuracy without paying full price, the SM10 is still a smart buy.

2. Titleist Vokey SM11

The SM11 finished third in our 2026 test at 8.9 and won best for spin. It’s also the only wedge in the test that didn’t lose any spin at all in the wet conditions, producing 6,857 rpm dry and 6,860 wet. Testers also voted it best for sound, feel and looks. Vokey offers a wider range of lofts, bounces and grinds than almost any other brand so you can match the wedge to your swing and your course.

1. Mizuno Pro T-3

The T-3 was the best wedge of our 2025 test. It won best for accuracy, consistency and spin, finishing at 8.9 overall, and it held 97 percent of its spin in the wet. It’s a forged wedge with a shallow cavity-back that adds a little forgiveness and PGA TOUR Superstore has it at $129.98, marked down from $179.99. If you need to put more than one wedge in your bag this season, it’s a great place to start.
