A Look Into The Future Of Golf Club Design

If you want to take a glimpse into the future of driver designs look no further then the most recent photos of what will most likely be one of Adams new drivers for their 2009 lineup…called the Adams Speedline. It might not look all that exciting but it will be small design features similar to what is incorporated in the Speedline that you are going to stat seeing more of in future driver design. This is because golf club designers have maxed out about all they can when it comes to head size and COR capabilities of a driver. And it was not until just recently that they started to look at other features of a driver that might give you guys more distance but still remain legal under USGA guidelines.

Aerodynamics One Of The Next Big Things

Designers have found very positive results when measuring the effect that aerodynamics can have on different types of driver designs. Swing speeds on some designs have shown to increase by some pretty remarkable numbers. And this is a good sign…because there is currently nothing the USGA can do to stop it. Just like anything else though if it starts to get out of hand they will be forced to come up with a new rule. But for now this small change and many others that designers are testing will be the future for the driver industry in the next few years.

How Much Will Change Though?

Well…the designers imagination is the only thing that can hold them back. But…unfortunately you see how imaginative golf companies are in recent years. Basically what they do is wait for one manufacturer to take a risk and then they all follow the pack. The weighted technology is a prime example…if we see another non-functional screw thingamagig in the sole of another driver that serves no purpose to the golfer…I think we are going to scream.

So…we will have to wait and see if all these great ideas floating around designers desks actually get implemented…or will it just be like the last 10 years in club design…where 100’s of companies simply ride the coat tails of whatever technology seems to be keeping the public happy for the time being.

P.S.

If you think we are crazy then just watch this year for what we are talking about…you will see…just start to count how many companies copy each other when it comes to this new shaft adjustability technology. I mean…we understand the USGA gave some lead way this past year to allow for this…but it is still very odd that almost all of them are going to be using the exact same method of adjusting their shafts.

There is so much great technology floating around that is being squatted on right now…the only reason it is not introduced is simply for fear of failure in the market. None of the big boys have the kahunas to take a chance…simply too much of a risk for them.

My name is Adam Beach. This place, this site, it’s more than just a business to me, it truly is an expression of who I am and what I believe in, down to my core. I feel the work I do is a reflection of who I am and the idea behind the work I do is more important than the work itself. You see, I don’t actually see myself in the golf business at all, I am in the business of caring. I am a guy who wakes up with one goal: do the right thing.
