Champion Female Golfer Seeks True Validation

Golf.com has published its annual list of The Most Beautiful Women in Golf.

We reached out to a prominent female golfer who didn’t make the list to hear her thoughts on missing the cut.

Here’s what she told us:

It stings, it really hurts.

I’ve dedicated years to my game. I’ve worked hard, damn hard. I’ve won tournaments at every level, so to be overlooked for not being pretty…I’m basically devastated.

Making the list was a goal of mine. I’m disappointed, but it makes me want to work that much harder on making myself more attractive to men by 2017. I’ve already hired a stylist to help me find some shorter skirts and tighter tops, and I have an appointment with a prominent plastic surgeon later this week. I really think that, with the right makeup, I’m a pair of marginally-oversized tits away from cracking the Top 5.

I worked hard to achieve great things both on and off the golf course, but this list provides such an incredible opportunity to be celebrated for my looks and not my achievements.

Isn’t that what every little girl dreams of?

I like to chuckle at lists like these. Its funny, if you disagree with this nonsense, some think this is people trying to be “political correct” but imagine these lists for male athletes. Many more voices would say a resonating- WTF?

So… I clicked the link and I checked out the list. I am a big fan of the LPGA and there are only 2 women on the list that play on the tour. Um, at the very least they could have done a bit of research into this right? The people at Golf Magazine need to do a bit of head shaking. There are more interesting perspectives on women in golf that are out there. They should stop being lazy and do the work. And if a Maxim-esque theme is what they were going for then they need to look at women who are far more involved in the game and not women who were once associated with the game or just do it a bit on the side.

To me golf is a lousy spectator sport. It doesn’t matter whether its LPGA or PGA, when watched on TV, 80 – 90% of the time we see people on the putting green, and the commentators whispering to one another. I only bother to watch if its a major and / or some drama is expected – like Tiger Woods coming back & injured and / or miss the cut again.

For me, it’s always more fun to play golf than to watch the game anytime.

Everyone involved with women’s golf continues to miss the point….

Focus your efforts on getting girls into the sport, or any sport, really, rather than them spending all day doing selfies.

Fair enough that it sells the sport, I think the LPGA is a long way behind the male version.
Obviously numbers at grassroot level is a big (not the only) reason
It amazing how technically correct the ladies swing the club though, that’s what keeps me watching

#satire but somewhat true in the eyes of some “fans”…and that’s pathetic. Also, pathetic…Golf.com “selling” the article. The LPGA has worked too hard in getting women’s golf on a legitimate athletic stage to continually put up with this…

      Just one person’s opinion…

Satire aside, at least the LPGA knows how to market. Tune in for the looks, stay for the awesome golf. I was watching before it was cool though. Ahh the days of high waisted bermudas and big hair. I miss them.
