I Think The Cleveland Classic BRZ Will Be A Hit in 2010!

The New Cleveland Classic putter line which was re-launched last year was a major hit for the classic line.  One of the reasons….the price…the entire line-up was under $100! Which is a great deal when compared to a lot of the comparable putters in the market.  No this is not a 100% CNC milled Scotty but it is not meant to go up against that market.  Although if you are looking for a quality putter with a traditional look then the Classic line might be for you especially at $89 and in bronze.  I was impressed with the putters last year and look forward to testing these out to see the difference in feel from the first models.

Since they had such a great success with the re-launch last year they decided to add the new BRZ or Bronze putters to the line-up.  The putters will be made up of 17-4 Stainless and have a Bronze PVD non-glare finish.  All with an aluminum face infused with copper for a softer feel.  Each putter will come with an oil treated cloth to prevent oxidation.  We have a couple on the way so we will let you know how they feel.  They will come in 4 models:

  • Model 1: Classic plumbers neck blade (Available in RH and LH)
  • Model 2: Classic heel-shafted mallet
  • Model 4.5: Classic slant-neck blade
  • Model 5: Classic double-bend mallet

What do you guys think about the new Classic Line?

The Classic 1 looks like it costs 4/5 times its price. Any chance of a blade Cleveland? It’s a shame these will only be a massive success if they get a lot of tour coverage…

solid product with an attractive price point ,what a novel idea!!! hopefully these will sell for cleveland because with that “new set of irons “promotion combined with an affordable putter line at least 1 of the MAJORS heard that, golf rounds are down-unemployment is up- and chances are your local golf retail shop is [ in the famous words of joe namath] STRUGGELLLLIIIINNNNGGGG!!!!!!!!!!!

I like the look of these putters. Nice touch having the lie and loft on the sole. I use a centre shafted putter (works better with my 2 thumb grip). So I won’t be buying. But terrific value and worth a look.

IMHO Cleveland generally make great kit, which is under rated and great value. I had a hibore hybrid-excellent. A launcher 3 wood, excellent and a Hibore driver-bit dissapointing, the sound is horrendous. Putter wise, I have never tried a Cleveland-but will next time Im looking!

This is Cleveland’s best attempt at regaining some putter respect in a long time. They always had it with wedges, but their putters have sure been on again/off again for a while. Bronze not only looks nice, but it feels great too! Do we know what the insert is made of yet? At the very least–these are very handsome clubs. If their performance matches their looks they’ll be an absolute steal at less than $100.

First we have the T square that is, ummm, okay from Cleveland and then we’re treated to a classic design tastefully updated.
Great looking putter that is well designed in every view.
At $89 they showed that you don’t have to spend $300 + for a well thought out design.
I’d have to rate this, based on pic’s, as an A+ for effort and execution.

Now there we have it, a company who does things properly (even though they couldn’t organise a holiday in Dubai to save themselves!!!) These look awesome and very understated… None of these fancy wierd shapes Odyssey and Ping are attempting…

Si…it seems that most putter makers are now trying to mix traditional models with the odd shaped mallets to cover all their bases. And making the odd shaped mallets from casts to keep their costs down on those more risky models. Therefore, if they don’t sell that well they don’t have too much invested that it will make or break them. But if they have a hit like the 2-Ball when it came out they will make a great return on their initial investment. Seems to be one of those things where they make a ton of models and just see which one sticks.

Bronze is the way all putters shoud be – BUT it has to be shinned so it sparkles in the sunlight – according to my golf partner. He has an old bronze ping. One day he did not get a chance to polish his putter and it was fairly drab looking. His frustration grew with every missed 3 footer until he finished his round with 41 putts. The next day, he had his putter shinning like the Hope Diamond. His forst putt was a curling 35 footer which he nailed “dead:. He finished with 29 putts.

It’s not the just the brand OR the bronze that makes a putter great, it is the POLISHED AND SPARKLING bronze,

LOL…I would never putt with a polished model. How the hell could you see when you stood over the ball…You would be blinded to death.

These look great. I want to try the 4.5 when it hits the shop. Love the color. White Iomic grip would look great…

Wow, these are pretty impressive. I’ve never really been in love with bronze putters, but these look good. The face is really nice looking.
