If you’re at all familiar with how calendars work, it won’t surprise you to learn that 21 months or so after the last Pro v1 hit store shelves, Titleist has somewhat formally introduced the 2025 Pro V1 and Pro V1x golf balls to the PGA TOUR at this week’s Shriners Children’s Open at TPC Summerlin.
While perhaps less exciting than a club release (Surprise! They’re white and round.) a new Pro V1 is always news in the golf equipment world. The upcoming (2025) release is a bit more significant still as it marks (or at least it will by the time they hit retail) the 25th anniversary of the Pro V1.
The first Pro V1 made its debut at the 2000 Invensys Classic, which, as it happens, was also played at TPC Summerlin.
Coincidence? No chance.
Back then, Titleist anticipated that 20-25 players would put the ball in play. Forty-seven, including the winner, Billy Andrade, actually did.
A fun little footnote, the runner-up also played Pro V1.
2025 Pro V1 in Play
While the Shriners signals the official start of the Tour seeding and validation process, some Titleist staffers like Hayden Springer, Zac Blair, and Lee Hodges have already had the balls in play.
To get everyone else comfortable with the new models, every Titleist range ball at TPC Summerlin will be a 2025 Pro V1 or Pro V1x.
More to Come
Members of the MyGolfSpy staff were fit for the new models on a recent visit to Titleist’s Manchester Lane facility. We’ll have plenty more to say once the new balls clear embargo.
Until then, leave a comment letting us know what you’d like to see from the 2025 models.
