Growing Demand

If there’s anything I can surmise from the release of the Foresight Falcon, it’s that golf simulation is in high demand. Consumers are craving the ability to play, practice and learn indoors.

That’s the bread and butter behind the Foresight Falcon. While the Falcon is (somewhat) billed as an entertainment piece, it’s backed by the Foresight accuracy you know and trust. Built on the same four-camera photometric system as the GCHawk, the Falcon provides the same level of accuracy and wealth of data in a form factor that’s roughly half the size of its predecessor.

If the Falcon’s golf simulation capabilities are its engine, Foresight’s photometric camera system is the fuel that powers it.

Perhaps the most underrated (and beneficial) thing about the new Falcon as compared to something like the tried and trusted GCQuad is the fact that it’s meant to be mounted overhead.

In layman’s terms, this removes the need to “flip” the launch monitor from side to side depending on your handedness. As the token lefty at MGS HQ, I’m often left out of the office GCQuad competitions because flipping it between shots just seems like too much work.

A Few Missing Features

If you own the original GCHawk, you’re probably wondering if it’s worth upgrading to the Falcon. Based on size and weight alone, the Falcon is a more formidable device for the everyday golfer building their golf simulator.

That said, there’s one weakness (albeit small) of the Falcon that I would have liked to see. The GCHawk features a multi-sport mode that allows you to play soccer, too. The Falcon does not have that capability.

Yes, it’s a small change. But if you plan on using your simulator space for both sports, you’re going to have to stick with the bigger, more expensive GCHawk.

It’s also worth noting that, due to the smaller size, the Falcon’s hitting area is a little bit smaller (only three inches) than that of the GCHawk.
