PUMA GOLF x PALM TREE CREW: Another One

Today, PUMA Golf announced the newest addition to an already-robust collaboration: PUMA Golf x PALM TREE CREW.

Earlier this year, the brands collaborated on two distinct apparel and accessory collections. Now, the tandem is back with a lifestyle-inspired golf shoe release that’s admittedly more subdued than what we’ve come to expect from PUMA Golf and PTC.

At $150, the standalone PUMA x PTC Slipstream G Shoe hopes to capitalize on slick branding and street appeal. This is not (and was not intended to be) a golf shoe for the masses. That said, if you’re a fan of past collections or you have a liking for the “limited” things in life, here’s what you need to know about the PUMA x PTC Slipstream G.

Release Details

  • Available now at PUMA Golf
  • Retails for $150
  • Men’s size 7-15
  • Internal PROFOAM midsole
  • Spikeless traction
  • Low-profile silhouette inspired by classic basketball shoes

Another One

PUMA x Palm Tree Crew

If you, like me, are up to date on PUMA’s collaborations with PTC, you’ll note that 2023 has been a banner year for the duo. But, if you, unlike me, don’t have a care in the world for apparel and accessory collaborations (you aren’t alone), you may be wondering “Why”?.

When I first got wind of this new release, I couldn’t help but think of DJ Khaled who recently has become quite the golfer. Khaled has been memed into eternity for his fitting phrase, “Another One.”

Honestly, it’s starting to feel like that with PUMA Golf and PTC. And while I’m actually stoked about the look of this new shoe release (I am a shoe guy, after all), you more than likely have the same question that my wife does each time I bring home a new pair of NIKE Dunks: “How much is too much?”

I don’t have a straight answer for you. What I do know is this: From my perspective, golf is in its “cool” era. With OEM after OEM releasing seemingly endless collaborations with lifestyle-adjacent brands, there’s a big need to stay relevant. Amid the myriad of limited-edition collaborations, how can one stand out?

Standing Out to Fit In

PUMA Golf (this year) has done so with bright colors, fun designs and whimsical patterns. The PUMA x PTC Slipstream G is no different. The pastel hues and palm tree insignia denote an untraditional approach to the game, a direction that I (and PUMA) believe golf is heading. The reality is that new golfers are starting to emerge with a tendency to sway from tradition, rather than cling to it.

In this regard, the PUMA x PTC Slipstream G (and previous collections) are perhaps a microcosm of what golf can become. More laid back, less preppy.

Does the Slipstream G from PUMA Golf and PTC meet the mark in this regard? I’m not sure. It’s hard to say that a $150 golf shoe is the way forward as it relates to departure from tradition. Even still, I’m a big fan of this design.

Consider me hooked. I’ll take two, please. (Sorry, dear.) If you’re interested in picking up the latest iteration of PUMA Golf x PTC, you can get the limited Slipstream G now at PUMA.
