Would You Play this New Vice Pro Golf Ball Pattern?

Vice is one of, if not, the largest direct-to-consumer golf ball brands. I suppose you can chalk that up to equal parts quality and attitude, although I suspect a good bit of the latter reflects the company name and its willingness to try almost anything when it comes to painting a golf ball.

While most brands’ urethane offerings are limited to a couple of colors and maybe a pattern or alternative alignment aid, Vice offers up a Home Depot paint aisle’s worth of options.

Whites, greens, purples, and the insanely popular drip options; nobody does color like Vice.

Apparently, that’s not enough.

Vice appears ready to offer a striped version of its popular Pro Plus golf balls

New to the USGA’s conforming ball list is the first alignment pattern we’ve seen from Vice. With separate colors for the Pro Air (teal/black), Pro (red/blue), and Pro Plus (black/black), Vice appears ready to launch its take on stripe alignment.

It’s fair to suggest that the apparently upcoming Vice pattern takes inspiration from TaylorMade’s Stripe. The Vice implementation looks a bit like a combination of the original Tour Response Stripe and the black and white TP5 version.

The center portion is white (like TP5), but the Pro Air and Pro models’ outer fringe features the hint of color you’d expect from Vice.

In a crowded segment of the equipment market where golfers often struggle to discern differences between products, it makes sense to give golfers as many reasons as possible to consider your product.

Vice already gives you plenty of color, but by entering the alignment space, the company is giving a segment of performance-driven golfers a reason to try a Vice Golf ball.

No word on retail availability, but it’s reasonable to think it won’t be long.

The Vice Pro Air will also be offered in a Stripe version

Purchased the new Vice alignment ball today online to give them a try. I have used alignments for putting for years. The multiple lines fit my eye better than a single line.

I’d definitely give them a try. ViceProPlus is my preferred premium ball purchase, and having the alignment guides on the green cannot hurt.

      Alignment aid is OK.
Doesn’t come close to Callaway though

Definitely would play — really wish the Pro Plus had a better pop of color. Keep in mind they’ve done a similar pattern at least once before — their Limited Edition Voyage to Valhalla ball last year had the same strip but the sides of the ball were dark blue (looks really cool when rolling).

I like them. Would definitely give them a try. I like that it’s great for helping to easily start me online off the tee and the putter face. In the fairway…doesn’t matter…no ball helps with that.

I wouldn’t seek them out. I like the good old-fashioned plain white Vice Pro balls, don’t like the golf balls that look like soccer balls, those with lots of lines, etc. I also never make marks on my balls to identify them, no need to let anyone know who hit it into the woods or the pond.

White cover golf balls are hard for me to see in flight. The fancy alignment strips probably won’t help

I do not see a mention that he strips are aligned by center of gravity as Maxfli states theirs is. Still waiting for the Lab on the accuracy of that claim.

maxfli may claim this, but I spin all my golf balls and theirs were not cog aligned based on the 4 dozen I purchased.

I don’t use alignment aids on my ball but it’s a decent look. I wonder what it looks like in the air?

Vice Balls are great. I find them consistent and very playable. Would definitely try the new pattern on the urethane balls.
      Practice also helps…

I love the color options of vice. Plain white and yellow are boring, spice it up with a splash of color and personality! Go Vice!

The “insanely popular drip pattern” certainly isn’t insanely popular where I play in Southern AZ. Impossible to find in the fairway or rough !

The drip pattern balls are still mostly white. Are you thinking of the fade pattern balls?

All the alignment lines and such are fine and good, but they can only be used from the tee and putting surface. If you play the ball down the alignment aids are pretty much useless.

driver is pretty useless when i’m 90yds out from green and in the rough, but I still carry one for the appropriate time during the round. sounds like we can use alignment aid on 18 tee shots and ~28 putts, 46 total shots, probably more than half of shots?
