G/FORE Adds Softspikes to Popular Gallivanter Shoe

If it ain’t broke … Well, you know how the saying goes. However, if you are going to fix something, it better be worth it.

Today, G/FORE released the G/LOCK Gallivanter, a new iteration of their popular Gallivanter golf shoe. But the brand known for its disruptive take on golf shoes didn’t rewrite the playbook here. They focused on making two big performance attributes better: stability and traction.

The change comes by way of the addition of the Softspikes Tour Flex Pro cleat, a first for G/FORE. The original Gallivanter was billed as a spikeless golf shoe whereas the new G/Lock Gallivanter is a full-on spiked shoe.

G/FORE just took their best-known golf shoe and made it better.

The tried-and-true Galivanter silhouette should see increased performance in stability and traction thanks to the proven Tour Flex Pro cleat from Softspikes. According to a survey from MacNeil Engineering, nearly 82 percent of professionals on the PGA Tour wear Softspikes and 94 of the last 100 major championships were won by players wearing Softspike cleats.

In addition to the new Softspike cleats, the G/Lock Gallivanter features the same massaging insole that G/FORE is known for. The full-grain leather upper and rope laces complete the $245 package.

While performance on our end is still TBD, it’s worth mentioning that the change is a welcome addition, especially for those who play in wet conditions often.

If you’re a fan of traditionally styled golf shoes with a disruptive, premium twist, give the new G/Lock Gallivanter a look.
