I Had $100 to Spend on Golf Gear. Here’s What I Bought

A hundred bucks doesn’t go very far in golf anymore. A box of premium balls can eat up half of it, a single polo can exceed that, and we don’t really need to discuss what clubs cost. Still, I wanted to see how far I could stretch $100 if I shopped carefully. So I gave myself the budget, went looking and bought the golf gear I thought gave me the most for my money.

1. Walter Hagen Men’s Birdseye Performance 11 Polo – $10.00

Ten dollars?!

A golf polo for $10 is almost unheard of nowadays.

I’ll be the first to say Walter Hagen polos aren’t necessarily my favorite at full MSRP. There are almost always better options for the money.

On sale, though? Completely different story.

At $10, you best believe I’m buying the Birdseye Performance 11 Polo. Keep in mind, the only color that’s $10 is Red Glow Heather. That being said, it’s an attractive color.

For this challenge, this exactly the kind of bargain we’re looking for.

2. Knockaround Flight Paths Wraparound Sunglasses – $8.97

I felt comfortable “splurging” on the Quince polo because I knew I could go low on the rest of this list.

I’m a bargain shopper, and this is an absolute bargain.

The Knockaround Flight Paths normally retail for $60. This pair is $8.97.

That is LOW.

A lot of people are perfectly happy paying $25 for goodr sunglasses. At $8.97, I’d take these Knockarounds every single time.

3. adidas Men’s Tech Response 3.0 Golf Shoes – $59.97

So far, we’re only at $18.97, which means we’ve got some room to “splurge.”

I talk about the adidas Tech Response 3.0 a lot, but that’s because they’re a darn good deal.

At $59.97, they take our running total to $78.94, and now we’ve got a polo, sunglasses and a pair of golf shoes without even hitting $80.

I like what we’re doing.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: these are exactly the kind of golf shoes I’d use as beaters. Range sessions, bad weather, muddy rounds, whatever. At $60, I’m not thinking twice.

4. Pride PTS 2.75″ Wood Golf Tees – $18.99

Britt mentioned wooden tees the other day, and I’m a fan myself, so this feels like a fitting way to round things out.

The Pride PTS 2.75-inch Wood Tees are $18.99, which brings our grand total to $97.93.

The Lowdown

For less than $100, we’ve got a golf polo, sunglasses, golf shoes and 175 wooden tees.

I’ll take that haul all day.

Golf doesn’t have to be expensive, and that’s something I’m always here to help demonstrate.

I have not purchased a golf tee in literally 30 years. They give them away on each tee. Pick one up (also the broken ones and throw those away). Purchase a pack of golf gloves from Costco instead.
