Make Your Apex Irons Uniquely Yours with Callaway’s New Custom Color Weights

When it comes to golfers getting the most out of their equipment, I suppose it boils down to two things:  performance and personalization.

Performance is all the stuff manufacturers build into a club – technology, exotic materials, whatever it happens to be that makes it universally better than what came before it (hopefully).

Personalization is the fitting stuff that makes it perform better in your hands, or, in some cases, the aesthetic tweaks that make it look better or maybe cooler to you.

Callaway’s Apex Ai iron offerings broadly fit first the description while the addition of Custom Color Weights to the Apex falls under the latter.

Admittedly, there’s no performance benefit here – at least none above and beyond what you get through fitting – but the new Custom Color option does give you the ability to personalize your Apex a bit by way of blue, silver, black, or copper weights.

I could definitely get on board with the blue.

Necessary? No. Fun? Yeah, I think so.

Callaway Apex Ai200 and Ai300 Irons with custom color weights

Custom Color Weights  – Which irons do they fit?

It may seem obvious, but I’ll go ahead and mention that the Custom Color Weights are available on both Apex Ai200 and Ai300 irons (including Apex Ai200 Black Shadow and Apex Ai300 Black Shadow versions).

As with all nice things, there is an upcharge. Customizing your weights will cost you an extra $10 per iron. In the grand scheme of things, that’s not too bad.

Available when you purchase through CallawayGolf.com or any other authorized Callaway reseller.

Too bad they don’t offer this weight color personalization on the Apex Pro, or the ability to buy the colored weights as an aftermarket option. If I bought an Apex iron set last Fall, I’d be a little disappointed that I can’t personalize them like these current offerings. It just shows being an early adopter has its downside.
