Golf has officially reached the streets of New York. Today, Queens-based Aimé Leon Dore launched its first golf capsule collection, dubbed ALD Golf. While many of the brand’s styles from over the years could easily be worn on the golf course, this is their first official foray into the game.
Like most of the brand’s signature styles, ALD Golf mixes the best of vintage sportswear with modern streetwear sensibilities to create a timeless lineup of apparel that would have been equally at home at Augusta in the 1970s as it is in modern-day Manhattan. One look at the collection and it’s easy to see where the brand’s inspiration comes from — down to the Chi Chi Straw Hat, a fedora ripped straight from archive images of its namesake, Chi Chi Rodriguez.
Highlights of the collection include houndstooth tech shirts, merino wool polos, fleece sweater vests, pintucked polyester shorts, and logo caps, plus some thoughtful essential accessories like golf gloves and a travel kit.
It’s been clear for a while that golf has been undergoing a style revolution, but this latest drop from one of New York City’s most popular menswear brands all but guarantees that the new wave of golf fashion is here to stay. If you want to cop a piece for yourself, do it now because styles are selling out by the minute.
