There is a lot of cool gear in the golf equipment world that doesn’t always fit neatly into Most Wanted Tests or Buyer’s Guides. You still want to know how it performs. In our We Tried It series, we put gear to the test and let you know if it works as advertised.
What We Tried
The Ask Echo T-LOCK 4.0 Cart Bag.
Who Tried It
Tyler. Soft Goods Testing Manager and Denver Bronco super-fan. The T-LOCK 4.0 is large and spacious in the best way and I can’t wait to share my thoughts.
I’m used to stand bags so it was intriguing to take the T-LOCK 4.0 on a test drive. I was pleasantly surprised.
Pros

The 14 full-length dividers are nice as hell.
I can’t stand when my clubs get tangled at the bottom of my golf bag due to the grips getting stuck together. It’s inconvenient when you’re trying to get those clubs back in the bag or when you’re prepping for your next shot. The 14 full-length dividers offer the easiest solution with each club having its own dedicated spot.
Ask Echo put in extra thought around the putter slot as well. If you have an oversized or jumbo grip, it will fit. My Scotty Cameron Newport 2 with a normal grip fit seamlessly with plenty of room to spare.
Additionally, there is a little groove on each divider that locks your club in place to prevent your clubs from rattling together with every bump in the road. If your clubs clatter on uneven terrain, you should consider the T-LOCK 4.0.

The storage space provides enough room to store everything you’ll need on the course and more.
My favorite was the insulated pocket to keep drinks and snacks cool. I was able to fit six Diet Cokes with room to spare. Ask Echo went above and beyond to make sure you’ve got the room you need. If you want to plop some ice in there to keep your drinks extra chilly, there’s a little spot for the water to drain out when the ice melts.
The T-LOCK 4.0 has an easy-to-use strap pass-through that allows you to access pockets seamlessly.
The final positive piece I’d like to touch on is the price. The model I tested came in at $212.49 but some colorways are listed all the way down to $179.99. I compared these prices to the cart bags in our 2026 testing pool and you’re getting a fair deal here.
Cons
You know you’ve built a solid product when the cons section is as short as this one is going to be. My gripes are minimal.
- Your headcovers won’t fit well when your clubs are in the T-LOCK 4.0. This isn’t the end of the world due to the grooves that lock your clubs in place but it can be annoying if you like keeping your headcovers on when those specific clubs aren’t in use.
- Since it’s a cart bag, it’s bulkier than I’m used to (9.35 pounds). I normally use a stand bag so I was shocked to see the extra girth of a cart bag. If you’re used to cart bags, this probably won’t be an issue. If you’re making the transition from stand to cart, prepare yourself for a heavier bag that will take up more room.
Final thoughts
I’m not looking forward to the day where all my rounds will be played using a golf cart but the T-LOCK 4.0 gave me a light at the end of the tunnel.
The 14 individual dividers were a good first step and the notch to keep your clubs in place was the cherry on top. With the rising cost of golf equipment, keeping your clubs safe and sound is more important than ever, and you get that protection with the T-LOCK 4.0.
The T-LOCK 4.0 is available in eight different colorways, giving you the ability to customize your look. The Ask Echo logo is loud but not so loud that you’ll hate it.
If you’re in the market for a new cart bag and you’re looking for something with loads of space, a large insulated pocket and great club protection, I recommend giving the Ask Echo T-LOCK 4.0 a serious look.

I bought one of the Ask Echo t-lock bags. I loved the idea of my clubs each having it’s own little secure nest where they didn’t raddle against the next club. I soon found that I didn’t like it as well as I thought I did. I’m a guy that has as many hybrids as irons and the hybrids don’t fit so well into the “nests”. I also like to use headcovers and like you said, they don’t fit either. If you are a player who has 3 or 4 woods and 8 irons I think you’ll love this bag. Me? I’ll be looking for another bag after having the Ask Echo for only one season.
