      Yeah this article is not very informative. What is available “in-stock”? Are we talking about each manufacturer’s shaft catalog being in stock or are we talking about full exotic shaft offerings? Since we’re talking about partnerships I have to assume it’s the former which means I don’t actually believe they will be in stock. Maybe on day 1 but they aren’t going to keep 5000 raw shafts in inventory at each store unless Callaway/TM/Titleist are footing the bill.

      That said, in theory this is a great idea. Forget about the golf trip example and just think about your typical fitting. It’s April, I walk in get fitted and there is a 2 yard difference between a cobra and a Callaway but I’ll have to wait until May (or later) for the contact or I can give up a couple yards and walk out with my club today. I think a lot of people will go with the latter

      My experience at this was NOT GOOD and in fairness this was a few years ago, before the current program. The fitting was very good and I felt we found the right shaft and head combo, the numbers bore that out. Then they pulled the same brand and flex shaft out of the stock box, put it together sent me home with it. I was playing in a tournament that weekend and went out to hit it and wow couldn’t get it off the ground (I’m a 12 HC so not usually an issue). The pro I was playing with in the tourney hit it and said “don’t know what’s wrong but it dang sure isn’t right”. I sold it on FB the next day. I should have taken it back but was a bit miffed so just getting rid of it felt good.

      So you can learn this from my experience.
      If at all possible hit it before you leave the store to insure the “your fitted shaft” acts like the “fitting shaft”.
      If you can’t, hit it as soon as practical and return it if it doesn’t perform.

      I have since worked in QC for a local top 100 (in the US) fitter and club builder and learned that the fitting is job 1. The buildout is Job 2 and the build out is what you play with, so it is by far the critical element.

      I have a “Game” shaft, usually an upgraded more expensive shaft and I keep the store front shaft which was marginally fitted as a back up. It certainly isn’t tuned but If the gamer breaks I’m not hitting 4 wood for the next couple weeks.

      How do they fit grips????
      And do they have enough weights to mess with all that too?
      Basically you’re walking out with what they have, only. Limits the fitting varieties, but for them, to sell enough in that narrow range without having to tweak too much, is still a selling point, I suppose. Better than having to wait a couple of weeks for delivery on most. The in-store stock shelf must be huge now

      They have enough weights to mess with that. And as far as grips go, they’ll just be able to blow on the grip of your choice before you walk out :)

      But do they do grips during the fit?
      And what about lengths? They have cut shafts ready to test, presuming they have shafts that are already tipped up to 1.5 inches?

      Depends on what kind of fitting, if it is the tour van fitting, there is a charge, if you are just in the free bays, no charge. At the PGATSS I visit regularly, there is a fitter in the tour van fitting space that I trust, not sure I trust many of the fitters in the regular fitting bays.

      As for having stuff in stock, I was fit a couple of weeks ago into the DS Adapt X with a Tensei Blue shaft in S, they didn’t have that club in stock even though it wasn’t custom, so they had to order it. It came in a few days but I was surprised it wasn’t in stock. Cobra isn’t listed as a Fit and Go brand at this time, but it would be nice to walk out with the club you get fit into.
