Watch Now: Can it Fix a Slice? Ping G430 SFT Driver vs Ping G425 SFT
Understanding Golf Slicing and the Ping G430 SFT
Slice shots in golf can be a real challenge, and the Ping G430 SFT driver is designed to help you with this common problem. So, let’s dive into what makes this driver unique:
SFT (Straight Flight Technology)
SFT stands for Straight Flight Technology. The Ping G430 SFT has a huge 22-gram weight near the heel to help reduce slice and keep you in the fairway. Ping claims that this can help improve your slice right to left correction by up to 20 yards.
T9S+ Face
The Ping G430 SFT features an optimized driver face with variable face thickness, called T9S+. This design aims to provide better face deflection, which in turn leads to increased ball speeds and better distances.
Spin and Sound
The G430 SFT comes with variable roll radius, which helps lower the loft on low-face shots or when you thin it. Additionally, the sound of the G430 SFT is a significant improvement over the previous model, the G425 SFT.
Adjustable Loft and Lie
With the Ping G430 SFT, you will have adjustable loft and lie options, allowing you to customize your shot to your preferences. Explore different possibilities and find the setting that best suits your swing.
Tech Spec Comparison
Comparing the 2023 Ping G430 SFT to the 2022 Ping G425 SFT, both drivers have the same 10.5-degree loft option and 45.75-inch club length. However, the G430 SFT has a slight head weight difference at 200 grams, whereas the G425 SFT is 202 grams.
In head-to-head performance, the G430 SFT has been found to be superior to the G425 SFT in terms of ball speeds, carry, and sound quality. The G430 also offers two draw settings, regular Draw and Draw Plus, giving you more control over your shot trajectory.
The Ping G430 SFT is not a gimmick; it’s a well-designed club specifically aimed to help you with slicing issues and is considered the best anti-slice driver in golf. If you or someone you know struggles with a slice, the Ping G430 SFT is a highly recommended solution.

Performance Analysis
The Ping G430 SFT shows an improvement in ball speed, carry, and sound compared to the previous model, the Ping G425 SFT. During testing, the G430 was 12.2 yards left of center while the G425 was 18 yards left of center. Although it might seem like more left to center would be better, the reason behind this difference is the new model’s addition of the Draw and Draw Plus settings. These settings allow you to customize the level of slice correction depending on your needs.
Here’s a quick comparison of key differences between the two models:
- Ball speed: Higher in the G430 SFT
- Carry: Longer in the G430 SFT
- Sound: Significantly better in the G430 SFT
The G430 SFT also features T9S+ variable face thickness for better face deflection and faster ball speeds, and an adjustable loft and lie that can help you further customize your shots.

Testing Observations
When playing with the Ping g430 sft, I couldn’t help but notice a few key features. The turbulators on top do a great job framing the ball and surprisingly help with head speeds at higher swing speeds. The sound and feel of this driver is a noticeable improvement over its predecessor, the Ping G425 SFT.
The straight flight technology (sft) has proven its worth, as the majority of the balls I have seen hit, including my shots, end up left of center. This driver aims to keep your shots on the left side of the fairway instead of the right, effectively correcting those frustrating slices.

Have not seen a review on the G430HL yet, so I thought would mention it here. I think this is new for the G430 line. I tested both the G430HL and Xxio 12 at the PGA super store. I was coming off a Ping G410 so I expected the Ping to be the winner. Better numbers with the Xxio though. After 60 days with it, I decided that I was losing on mis-hits with Xxio compared to my G410 and didn’t care for the feel or sound of the Xxio. Traded the Xxio in on the Ping G430HL and am much happier even though I may hit it a tad shorter on my best drives. With the 100% PGA Super store trade in, I was able to pick up the Ping driver and a used putter for what I had paid for the Xxio. Win, win. Ping G430HL Pros: Feel, sound and forgiveness Cons: Might not be the longest in its class.
