PXG Announces Mini Gunboat Mallet Putter

PXG has announced a Mini version of its Gunboat putter. With input from Tour Staff members seeking a smaller profiled mallet, PXG has reduced the footprint of the Mini by 6% heel to toe and 20% from front to back.

Like other PXG mallets, the Mini Gunboat is milled from 304 stainless steel, and offers TPE core, and features PXG’s signature weights around the perimeter to boost MOI.

The new mallet is available in two versions. The standard model is face balanced with a single bend shaft. The Mini Gunboat H offers moderate toe hang and a straight shaft.

Both Mini Gunboat models retail for $550.

In the Hero Program the putters are now $175 – that’s not an awful price point to try their line and they do offer a lot of options.

I play a SC Concept 1 Tour Rat – is it any better than the Golf Galaxy version – probably not. But putting is such a head game & believe whole hearted you can find a great putter at any price point – as long as you the operator likes it.

PGX say they’re for the player but honestly a good player can adapt to most good clubs. Unless you are loaded $$$ or stupid they don’t interest a true club player. This putter will be bought and not even tried by people with more money than sense,

I love this comment because it just comes from someone with a stigma against PXG and not even real sense. PXG Gen 2 putters cost $425, the newest Scotty Cameron’s cost $400. Yet, nobody cares if someone rocks a Scotty and would call them a “player”, but they make fun of someone buying a PXG…

So a Bettinardi Inovai with the weights on the sides instead of the back. Got it, thanks.

Looks cool but like everyone else said, other OEMs have just as good or better putters. I like “Putter” brand companies like Seemore, Bettenardi and Odyssey. They make different designs for every golfer. I find main brands like TM and PXG to make everything just for show and sales without any real consumer input.

I just picture everyone in PxG’s branding department just sitting around in Ed Hardy and Affliction regalia.

I have yet to find something that beats my old/current Rife mallet. I am sure there is something out there, but at this price point….. its not one I’d even consider.

PXG has a certain golfer they are going after, prestige and performance oriented. Nothing wrong with that, and I am sure they are good clubs, but I feel it probably rubs a lot of guys the wrong way. As exampled by the hate on the TM vs PXG lawsuit articles.

I don’t find anything from PXG to be appealing. This putter is no different. Way too costly product for nothing more intriguing than any other OEM.
