SPY PICS – Mizuno MP-68 Irons!

Replacement For The MP 67 Irons?

Mizuno has always been a MyGolfSpy favorite. I think they consistently makes some of the best irons on the market. They have to be the most underrated iron maker that has been around as long as they have been. You can take out 10 sets to the range hit them all side-by-side and Mizuno will always be near the top. And they don’t go the gimmicky route either to sell clubs. They stick to solid forgings that give you great feel and a classic look.

Cross Between MP-14 & MP-32

So when we got these new pics we weren’t too surprised to see that they have not strayed to far from their norm.  The Mizuno MP-68 iron prototypes are a cross between the MP-14 & MP-32.

It is hard to see but there is a channel grooved in the cavity right behind the Mizuno logo.  Not as deep as the MP-32 but similar.  And from what we heard they head designer had to actually fly to the foundry to give the head shapers a personal lesson on how to achieve the proper grooved channel to get the proper CG and feel.

Getting fitted for a set tomorrow. Yes, 2010 groove compliant. Feel great, very workable. The only thing is that I don’t understand why the 5.5 Project X is the only Project X shft off the shelf. If someone is buying these you would think they would be 6.0+.

You can only get them in the 5.5 Norm?

OK, so we can obviously see how beautiful these bad boys are. And coming from Mizzuno we know that they will play like none other. But are they “2010 Groove Ready”?

Looks like I have found my next set of irons. My last two sets of irons have been Mizuno blades (MP37’s and MP14’s) and these look stunning.

Can’t wait to try them out.

I tend to have trouble with carbon fibre and my swing is always a little straighter with steel shafts. I am getting better though!

If a golf club could be sexy, these irons would be most straight up promiscuous. Just another classic design from Mizuno. Between them and Titleist, it doesn’t get any better.

Some of the older Titleist irons were amazing. Although I feel Mizuno still has the upperhand FEEL wise.

I love them, I want them. But the way I’m playing I don’t need them. I just resorted to pulling the blades from my bag

Mizuno forgings (Chou) should be put in the same class as Miura and Endo. Mizuno has some of the softest, yet crisp feeling forged irons made. If you never hit Mizuno forged irons you should give them a try.

You are right Tim…EVERYONE should try a Mizuno. If they did many of the big OEM’s would be in trouble, a lot of golfers would be switching.

Mizumo’s have always been a great golf club. I actually ‘learned’ to play on MP33’s ! Now I’m a little older and I play the MX950’s. Mizuno just doesn’t seem to have the same ability with their woods.

I agree with you about the woods opinion. I think they make a solid driver but just not as good of distance as some of the others.

Mizuno never ceases to amaze me with their irons designs. I am a huge fan of Mizuno. I agree that they are one of the more underrated irons makers in the world. Their irons are a cut above the rest in my opinion. I can’t wait to see these in person and see how they play.

      Great looking sticks.
I have always felt that Mizzy’s were “playuh” sticks. That said, the range I go to had several sets and just looking at them I thought that they suited my eye regardless of my opinion.
If I had the disposable income to buy a set once a month then I can assure you that there are a few Mizuno iron lines that I would open the wallet for.
