Just got my new STX ProFit 5. Did I just see that the inserts and weights are no longer available? One of the pros at the store told me to get the insert and weight package thru the STX website. The putter goes back tomorrow. You have to be kidding me, a putter with interchangeable inserts and weights that are not available. Who made that decision?

I have an older model STX Sync 3 and it’s amazing! I use a 50″ shaft and putt absolutely lights out with it. The only problem is I called STX directly and sent several e-mails to Scott Henneman (STX Golf director) and he can’t sell me a 50″ newer model. If anyone knows of another way for me to get a 50″ Profit 6…I’d love to buy one.

Joel, that is because we (STX) do not make the Sync 3 anymore. We will have the ProFIT 6 (pictured above) available in 50″ starting March 15th. Feel free to email me to process the order. [email protected]. Thanks for your support.

eBay or a second hand golf store. STX got out of the putter business a couple of years ago. Bummer too because they were making some great stuff IMO.

The ProFIT 6 has been in high demand so we were out of stock for a while. We just received some more today and will be shipping to PGA Superstore shortly. They would be you best bet for now as we grow our distribution. We anticipate being at all of the major outlets in 2011…

Can’t wait. In the meantime where in Georgia (or elsewhere as i travel frequently) can I see the current full line including the center shafted Profit 6 ? PGA superstore in Roswell Georgia has a few of the profit 4 ‘s and 5 ‘s and the Envision but NO mallet 6

Big W, thanks for your comment. There will eventually be a mallet with a heel shaft, but probably not until next year. We are starting to beef up our line and will have seven new putters in 2011. Stay tuned. Thanks

First off I just found your product again after many years as was excited to see you have a new line. I have an ancient STX mallet with a black insert that my friends dubbed “the silent assassin” because I dropped so many putts and never heard a click, just buttery smooth. The new Mallet looks fantastic, I prefer the black insert in all conditions. I recently bought the Rossa Vincino Spyder mallet and was very happy until I picked up your blade at the PGA superstore. I putted side by side for an hour and the STX was hands down my favorite for accuracy, feel and distance control. One question? Will there be a Mallet version with the hosel on the heel rather than in the center?

I like the putter as a whole, not really liking the color of the face but the interchangable face is an idea i havent seen. I particularly like the look of the face, because it looks super soft and i tend to hit my putts hard, my question is would putting a heavier weight on the right side and a lighter one on the left make it feel toe-weighted? Another suggestion i have would be to keep the center shaft and also weld a second curving shaft about 4 inches above the hosel to the back of the putter for stability.

I see the insert comes in different colors and one being red, but the insert in the pics is pink! That’s not gonna fly, correct that color scheme. I agree with some of the other posters that the adjustable weight route in putters is getting old and hasnt proven out on the tour level to have any impact on putting stats. Remove the outside “rounded wings”. And for STX, how about stepping out of the box and creating a non-center shafted putter.

Changing the face of your putter is a interesting concept. However, you cant make any modifications while in tournament. If you already posses the two putt, why change it. So stop the manufacturing and save the money on something else that can help hackers. Like a green that you can change the slop and lie, making all shots level and straight. When you do this please call me because I would like to be your neighborhood representative.

I’ve played several versions of the STX putter. I really like them. I’ve played the Envision as well as a couple of the other models. I do think that the insert would look a little better framed in some metal. The putters work very well but several of the golfers that I have played with do not have confidence in the really soft face. Putting is all about confidence. “If you look good, you feel good”.

Greens are never the same on any given course. The first green may run fast and the second be a slow crawler. Changing the face for different greens are interesting but im not sure it will be a favorite thing to do. besides if your a two putter, this club will be obsolete. If you could change the lie of the green to be straight all the time with no breaks then call me I would like to twork as a rep.

A putter to me and most guys out there is 90% visual. I’ve had the Rife Offset Mallet with adjustable weights and the more traditional looking Olivia with adjustable weights and adding too many combinations starts to make putters sound like a R9 driver. It just starts to boggle the mind instead of making you work on putting fundamentals. I think a putter has to be visually beautiful first, and then the hands and mind can concentrate on creating a feel for distance based on a sound fundamental stroke. The only thing appealing about this putter might be a centre shaft for some guys. Scotty has added weights to some of his putters because of the demand, but the simplicity and beauty of his newer putters that aren’t Karsten clones is what appeals to me. I think Kia Ma has it right also. the Maranello is a work of art.

Can’t believe nobody has pointed out the similarity in styling to the latest Rossa Putters, cross between the Corza and the Spyder, especially with that red face…

I definitely think to make a club truly marketable you need to keep it simple. Less than 10% of the golfers out there ever actually adjust their Taylormade Drivers more than once. Cobra’s pro series driver has a swingweight plug allowing the club to be set to whatever swingweight you’d like. In the store I work at, do you know how many people I’ve custom ordered a specific swingweight for? 1. Out of dozens of drivers sold. The majority of people just plain don’t get it, no matter how hard you try to explain it. Just drives up the cost and confuses people.

Never Compromise, MacGregor, you at STX, and others have all tried different speed faces for different putting conditions before. Making the face interchangable is just one more thing to confuse the masses. Look at how horrible Callaway’s iMix equipment bombed. Different shafts and heads for different conditions but nobody cared. So few people are talented enough to understand what it means or tell the difference between them, let alone make all the different combinations work for them.

Make a putter that rolls true and is visually helpful in seeing the line. That’s all most people need. A putter like this one is useful to maybe 2-3% of golfers. You need to broaden your horizons, add different hosel configurations, a better alignment aid on top. If you want to stick with the different faces, market it for different PLAYERS, not green conditions. This is the face if you smash the ball from one side of the hole to the other, this is the face if you constantly leave it short. And make the inserts the same color, white with a black site dot in the middle of the top, with a white stripe down the center of the mallet, ie Nike’s iC putters, or Callaway’s old If not for their tinny feel I think that’s the best putter going visually. Helps a LOT of high handicappers hit their lines.

I say back to the drawing boards.

Changing the face hardness or softness has already been done. And it was done by Bobby Grace with the “Face Off”( I think that was the name). Last time I checked that putter failed horribly. Obviously it must have or you would have known about it. Is it a descent idea, sure. Will it catch on, no. Bottom line is when you have a club you can adjust it’s fun to mess with the first couple of times you play to get the hang of it. But after that you will have the insert in you like the feel of the most and stick with it. (much like the adjustable drivers)

I enjoyed the styling of last years STX Envision. It had a more sleek, stealthy, minimalist, artsy look to it. This one seems a bit more clunky, but I understand why with the changeable faces and weights. This one tends to remind me of the Rossa Monza Spider on appearance. We also need a glimpse of the accessory management system, as that is a major feature of this putter. Macgregor did a nice job with their DCT face-off putters by having a padded, zippered pouch to store the extra face and wrench, that coupled with the M-series weight kit, it made for a nice way to store and keep organized all the accessories to adjust the putter to the specs/feel one desired. Nothing can be more annoying than misplacing your wrench, when you’re in a bind on some speedy greens. Has anyone every designed a putter cover that contains all the gizmos, so they are always with the putter? I know Cameron had the Futura cover contain a slit for his pivot tool. After all the tinkering, when all is said and done, it all comes down to the performance and feel.

I like the look of the putter and other STX putters they have a unique style which can only be a good thing. Regarding the colours perhaps they should be like a traffic light green for go (the softer insert) red for stop (fast greens) and amber for caution. Also does anyone find that non-steel faces snag on the grass when the grass is longer/stickier? If you picture the Fisher putters and the older Mizuno Tour Style range they had inserts that went underneath to the sole of the club. I remember Odyssey had similar inserts in the mid ’90’s (The Stronomic System blue and green with black standard inserts). If you can change the weight of the putter do you need to change the face for feel on different green speeds? It’s great to have options but some golfers get put off by to many. I remember trying one of the earlier STX putters it had an incredible soft feel.

It is a good looking putter. But I’d like to see something I can scoop and pick up the ball, also a heavier head, maybe around 370/390 gr. with the possibilty to have a flatter lie, 68/69 with a longer shaft at 36″ The feel of the face is remarkable !!

the color of the inserts should go to the back side of it showing at most a colorband maybe visible from some other angle so as not to distract the user or all black as others have stated with symbols or just an S T or X for your face choices. Center shaft is my choice as well. But living in the soggy north west I would have to wonder about water and sand etc and all the movable parts becoming damaged.

I am a big fan of the center shafted mallet. I still roll out the DFX 2ball. I would be interested to roll a few and see how the changes in weight affect the roll. The looks are OK, not a huge fan of the big plastic front, but I will roll a beer can on a stick if it makes putts. Will look for this in the local shop to demo…

I am on my 3rd STX putter, the (now) old Envision, and am planning on buying the new Envision (which I first saw on mygolfspy.com) but would like to get my hands on it and roll a few putts on a practice green before buying it. I live in Kansas City and have not found a dealer that stocks STX.

I like the idea of this putter, but the look is just a bit “clunky” in the pictures. Its likely they simply don’t do it justice. I love the center shaft. The weights are fine although I’ve never had an adjustable weight putter, they wouldn’t keep me from buying it but I don’t consider them a strong selling point. What I REALLY like are the interchangeable inserts. The face is the best feature of STX putters, and the ability to change them should be the central feature of all thier putters. They had a blade style years ago that had this feature but I never owned it, I’ve always had the black insert. If the new Envision had an interchangeable face, I’d already have bought it, site unseen!

Also, that “red” insert looks awful PINK on my monitor! I don’t know how crazy I am about the thought of looking down at a hot pink insert. I’d much rather the inserts colors were black, black, and black, with the different firmness indicated in some other way. Different colors is fine though I wish they were more neutral.

I agree with the above comment about the inserts all being the same color. I shouldn’t look down and think, this is the firmer insert because the greens are such and such. To me thats leads to the never do “don’t hit it too soft” or “don’t hit it too hard”. The concept of the adjustable face is to make you NOT think about changing your stroke based on the conditions. I have played your STX Tour from years ago. I can honestly say it was one of the best putters I have ever used. Looked like a plummers tool but rolled it GREAT. The insert really rolls the ball great. Interestingly enough It was a great putter on really bad greens and on really good greens. I putted multiple rounds on newly aerated greens and made a few long bombs and more than my share of other putts. The biggest issue I had with the putter was the that is was too light. You seemed to have fixed that issue. So, in conclusion make the faces the same color (Black) and I would seriously think about buying this. You guys need to figure out marketing of your putters because you make a great product. This coming from a traditionalist who can’t stop using his Scotty Cameron/ Ping anser style.

Looks OK, To me STX logo on the bottom looks too big/ bright. The adjustability factor is not a bad idea to incorporate into a putter, as Matt stated it gives you that customization factor that we all know is the Hot thing right know in golf clubs, the one thing I would add if it does come with a tool and other face inserts, have them packaged together in some sort of small case (TM wieght kit) so everything stays together and does not get lost. Does it come in any other shaft/ neck config such as a plumbers neck? I would give it a roll if I saw it in the local pro shop.. Pete

I like the idea that you can increase or decrease the firmness of the face… that’s an adjustability feature we haven’t seen before. Changing swingweight and/or the effective MOI(to a small degree), isn’t a new idea, but it’s nice to be able to adjust both factors. If you could adjust the lie angle as well, you’d have everything you could possibly ask for. The colors are kind of silly, but overall it’s a good idea. I don’t like mallet putters personally, but they may be onto something here.

Thanks for the comment Mitchell. You are correct in suggesting that 10 grams won’t do much for the performance. The weight is all about feel, some people like heavier and some like lighter. Interchangeable weights in putters accommodate preferences more than performance factors. We offer interchangeable weights so that the user has the ability to adapt the putter to the weight that they like.
