TESTERS WANTED: Vokey SM11 Custom Fit Experience

According to the Vokey Team at Titleist, a properly fit club can change everything.

For this MyGolfSpy Forum Member Test, we’re giving five members the chance to experience one of the most personal fittings in golf — a full custom Vokey wedge fitting resulting in completely custom SM11 wedges, including personal stamping to make them uniquely yours.

This isn’t just about testing wedges. It’s about discovering what properly fit scoring clubs can actually do for your game.

The Test

Five MyGolfSpy Forum members will receive:

  • A professional Vokey wedge fitting
  • A custom-built set of Titleist Vokey SM11 wedges
  • Personal stamping to make them completely unique
  • The opportunity to document the entire process for the MyGolfSpy community

From the fitting experience to on-course results, testers will share everything — including how properly fit wedges influence contact, trajectory, spin, and scoring performance.

The Vokey Philosophy: Contact. Flight. Spin.

According to the Vokey team, great wedge play comes down to three core elements:

Contact. Flight. Spin.

A Vokey fitting is designed to unlock all three.

Contact — Built Through Grind
The sole grind determines how the wedge interacts with turf and sand. The right grind allows the club to work with your natural swing instead of fighting it.

Flight — Controlled Through CG
The SM11 wedges feature carefully positioned center of gravity locations throughout the loft matrix, producing more predictable launch windows and trajectories.

Spin — Engineered Through the Vokey Spin System
Spin isn’t about chasing the biggest number. It’s about control.
Vokey’s spin system uses precise groove design, groove geometry, and face texture to create consistent, predictable stopping power.

Because scoring isn’t about maximum spin — it’s about controlled spin when it matters.

Why Wedge Fitting Matters

One of the most interesting truths that emerges during a Vokey fitting is that wedge fitting is often the most personal fitting in the bag. Wedges are about feel, turf interaction, and trust.

The fitting begins from the ground up — literally.

Rather than starting with ball speed or launch numbers, Vokey fitters begin by understanding how your sole interacts with the turf and sand, identifying the grind that best matches your technique and playing conditions.

What Makes the Vokey SM11 Different?

The Titleist Vokey SM11 wedges continue Bob Vokey’s relentless pursuit of wedge performance with subtle but meaningful improvements.

Highlights include:

  • Forward CG progression: Strategically placed CG positions throughout the lofts create more controlled trajectories and improved distance consistency.
  • Vokey Spin System: Precision-milled grooves combined with face texturing deliver the kind of predictable spin elite players demand.
  • Tour-inspired shaping: Compact profiles, refined toplines, and a variety of sole grinds allow golfers to build a wedge setup tailored to their exact shot preferences.
  • Industry-leading grind options: Vokey wedges are famous for their grind matrix, giving fitters the ability to match wedges to swing style and playing conditions.

The result: wedges designed not just to perform — but to unlock shots players didn’t know they had.

What We’re Looking For in Testers

We want five golfers who love the scoring side of the game.

Ideal testers will:

  • Be excited about wedge play and short-game performance

  • Be willing to document their fitting experience

  • Provide detailed feedback on contact, trajectory, spin, and scoring results

  • Share photos, videos, and on-course insights

Bonus points if you’re the kind of golfer who:

  • Obsesses over wedge grinds

  • Loves experimenting with short-game shots

  • Tracks stats like proximity, up-and-downs, and spin performance

      My wedges are older Vokeys.
      – SM8: 46 degree, 10F
      – SM7: 50 degree, 08F
      – SM7: 56 degree, 08M

What I would hope to learn is how far the technology has come since I got my wedges. I know a lot of people that have wedges older than mine and the consensus is that what they have works. That may be true, but how much have wedges improved? It’d be good to know if it is worth spending over $500 for a few wedges. That’s a lot of money and knowing the bang is worth the buck would be valuable to A LOT of golfers. Most of the folks I play with don’t get new clubs every 1-2 years. They hang onto what they have.

Why would I be a great tester? I love using wedges. Obviously, I’d like my approach shots to be on the green and I’m only walking to the green with a putter in my hand, but I often find my self with 1-2 wedges and my putter. I love to play bump and runs, but it is also interesting when you don’t have much green and you have to open the club face. I like the challenge and I like to have to be creative. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t, but I’d like to see how the clubs perform through all kinds of different shots. 100 yards and in, bunkers, rough around the green, chips from the fringe, etc.

Currently playing Vokey SM 10 58m08, SM 10 54M08, SM 10 50 F 08, Srixon ZX7 PW. Near Sacramento CA, 78 years old, 5.2 index. I practice 5x week, play 2 to 3x per week. Solid long game. Looking to improve short game, specifically bunker play (wet, soft, hardpan, uphill, downhill), variety of grasses around the green (bermuda, fescue, clover, hardpan), soft conditions, tight and firm conditions as I play a variety of courses in the Sacramento, North and East Bay areas. I want to learn how bounce and grind effects shot choices. I currently do no understand what “engaging the bounce” can do for me, which is why I play such low bounce. We play golf year round here and have wet soft conditions in the winter and hard and firm in the summer. I average 35% up and down from bunkers and 50% from greenside lies, which is why I play away from bunkers. But as I am now moving up to the senior tees, I have more opportunities to go for par 5s in two. That leaves and increased likelihood of greenside bunkers. I am toying with getting the Ping Bunker (yes, that desperate).

      Hello all,

I am an below average golfer at a 11.7 handicap. I am still playing game improvement irons (Apex DCB) and that set has a PW and AW. I dislike the AW so I decided to get a tokomo SF002 56 10F bounce to play around with. I have grown to love the full face for my missed strikes and the grind seems to be working well for me. My other wedges are Vokey SM9 12D bounce. I like these a lot, but I feel like the grinds don’t work great for me as of late.

I think I would be a good fitter because of the stigma of Titleist clubs and below average golfers. I think you should play what ever catches your eye and what works for you rather than what others think. The vokey wedges look great at address and since they are less forgiving this has highlighted the gaps in my game. I am willing to change around degrees, bounces, and shafts for testing.

Thank you and best of luck to all!
