The TaylorMade Qi4D Won Our 2026 Driver Test. Here’s Who Shouldn’t Buy It.

The TaylorMade Qi4D is the best driver we tested in 2026. That is not up for debate. It topped our overall leaderboard through consistent, balanced performance across distance, accuracy and forgiveness.

But our data tells a more nuanced story once you start breaking results down by swing speed. The Qi4D is the right driver for a lot of golfers. It is not the right driver for every golfer. And if you fall into one of the categories below, our test data suggests you might be better served elsewhere.

Here is what the numbers say.

How the Qi4D performed across all three speed categories

Before we get into the specifics, here is how the Qi4D scored across each of our swing speed breakdowns.

Slow Swing SpeedMid Swing SpeedHigh Swing Speed
MGS Score8.89.39.2
Total Distance199.5 yards253.8 yards290.6 yards
Yards From Center11.3514.2118.37
Straight Rate55.9%56.4%55.9%
Playable Rate94.5%92.8%73.2%

Slow swingers who struggle with accuracy

The Qi4D finished ninth overall in our slow swing speed test which is a solid result and it was the best TaylorMade driver for slower swingers. But its accuracy score was its weakest category at this speed. It ranked 19th for straight rate at 55.9 percent and 26th for playable rate at 94.5 percent out of 42 drivers. For a slow swing speed golfer who has trouble keeping the ball in play, those numbers matter.

The slow speed leaderboard looks quite different from the overall test results with LA GOLF winning the category and Srixon finishing second and third.

What the data suggests instead: Within the TaylorMade range, the Qi4D Max posts a higher playable rate at slow speeds but it gives up about four yards of total distance to get there. If you are open to other brands, the LA GOLF driver was the most accurate in our entire slow speed test at 64.8 percent straight and 97.6 percent playable.

Golfers who need the absolute lowest spin numbers

The Qi4D is not a low-spin driver. At mid speeds, 20 drivers in our test produced lower spin. If your fitter identifies spin reduction as a priority, there are better options in the 2026 field.

But there is an important distinction. Our testing found the Qi4D ranks among the top six drivers in the entire 2026 test on spin consistency across the face. Low average spin and consistent spin are two different things and the Qi4D excels at the latter.

High swing speed golfers who want maximum distance

This one comes with an important caveat. The gap is here but it’s not something that can’t be fixed with the proper fitting.

At high swing speeds, the Qi4D averages 290.6 yards of total distance. The Callaway Quantum Max averages 295.7. For most high swing speed golfers, five yards is not a dealbreaker and the Qi4D’s overall high distance score of 9.2 is still excellent.

But if you swing over 105 mph and maximum distance is your primary goal, the Callaway Quantum Max is the longest driver in our 2026 high speed test.

TaylorMade Qi4D

High swing speed golfers who need forgiveness

This is probably the most surprising finding in the entire dataset.

At high swing speeds, the Qi4D ranks 28th out of 42 drivers on playable rate at just 73.2 percent. That means more than one in four shots at high swing speeds ends up in a position that is difficult to play from. For a club that won the overall test, that is a notable finding.

The Qi4D wins the high speed category through distance and accuracy, not forgiveness. Its straight rate of 55.9 percent ranks third in the entire high-speed test. But when it misses, it is less forgiving than 27 other drivers in the test.

What the data suggests instead: The PING G440 MAX is the stronger alternative for high swing speed golfers who need more forgiveness. It posts an 81.7 percent playable rate at high speeds versus the Qi4D’s 73.2, scores 9.1 overall and gives up just a few yards of distance to get there. If forgiveness is your priority at this speed, it is worth adding to your fitting session alongside the Qi4D.

Final thoughts

The TaylorMade Qi4D earned its place as the best overall in our 2026 driver test and the data backs that up. But is it the best driver for you? Take a look at the complete 2026 Driver Test results here.

That test doesn’t include the new Titleist GTS product and if Tour usage is an indicator one might want to re-test.
