The Zero-Torque PXG Allan ZT Putter Is Getting Longer

When the PXG Allan ZT released, it shook up the putter corral. The Allan was the first putter that performed at a similar level to L.A.B. Golf’s market-dominating lie angle balanced putters.

Head to head, the L.A.B. Golf DF3 defeated the Allan, but the margin was close enough that we knew that the Torque Wars had begun.

Since the release of the Allan, PXG has released a variety of other zero-torque putters. Their S-hosel design allowed PXG to create zero-torque builds with multiple head shapes.

It started with the original Allan ZT and the black version of the Allan ZT followed not too long after. The PXG Bat Attack ZT demonstrated that you could make a fang-shaped putter with zero-torque.

PXG also applied their zero-torque design to blade putters. Though a bit on the large side, the PXG Hellcat ZT and PXG Mustang ZT are far more blade shaped than the other models.

Over the course of about a year, PXG made it clear that they were going to be serious players in the zero-torque putter marketplace.

Allan’s zero-torque stability in a longer package

The new PXG Allan ZT Long Putter is not intended to shake up the zero-torque market. Instead, it was created to meet the needs of a specific subset of golfers: those who struggle with traditional-length putters.

For whatever reason, certain golfers perform better with long putters. The reasons could be physiological or psychological but the fact is that the long putter helps some golfers make putts that they would miss with a traditional-length putter.

Those golfers are the ones that PXG is targeting with this release. For them, the benefits of bagging the PXG Allan ZT Long Putter will be twofold.

Not only do they get a putter that has their preferred length but they also get to take advantage of the Allan’s zero-torque design.
