How It’s Made: 2009 Exotics Prototype Putter!

Lexus Is To Toyota…As Is…Exotics Is To TourEdge

Familiar with TourEdge Golf? What about Exotics Golf? Well TourEdge has actually been around for over 20 years and their popularity is on the rise. When David Glod the owner started the company he was all about providing quality equipment at an affordable price…and TourEdge definitely does that.

But they have another line called Exotics Golf which is more about the kick-a$$ high dollar gear that is made of the best materials and is more about pushing the envelope of design. Kind of like Lexus is to Toyota…both made by the same people but Lexus being a much higher end model. Exotics Golf has started making a name for themselves these last couple years. And they are just releasing some new putters that they hope you guys will like. The owner has givin us a sneak-peek at some of the heads while they were being made…so you can see the milling work and what went into making these flatsticks.

Behind The Scene Look: The Making Of Exotics New Prototype Putter

Their entirely CNC milled SUS303 stainless steel…and to some super-tight tolerances. They were developed from inspirations from the desires of the very best tour players in the world. The face has a patent-pending, multi-level X-shaped face pattern. Which they say helps grips the ball at impact and allows it to release on a smoother roll. It also sports a silver-bead finish….and a high-toe design…its a sweet looking stick.

We will also be showing you the process of how their new driver was made in the next few days..so be sure to check back the middle of next week. For those of you that have never seen inside a driver head you will get an industry insider’s look at what goes on behind the scenes.

You see, I don’t actually see myself in the golf business at all, I am in the business of caring. I am a guy who wakes up with one goal: do the right thing.

MGS but how is that any different from what Tour Edge are doing here. Every manufacturer makes an Anser model. Most a heel shafted blade. A flow neck.

The multi-level X-shaped face pattern will be interesting to see. I’ve noticed face patterns can make or break the feel of a putter. The Exotics looks like a putter to watch. What are the odds a tour player may just pick one up because he prefers it? Similar to the way Teardrop and Carbite made their way into the putter world.

I am familiar with Sunset Beach Putters…but I would like to see more original designs from them. Simply re-producing old winners is not the way to break into the market.

I’m saying that all putter manufacturer’s make similar putters bar a couple of models in there line up.
Sunset Beach make the std shapes, so does Touredge going by the pics. To make a significant mark in the market, not too mention money and return on their investment (R&D etc) they have too come with a fairly significant selling point over and above other companys.

Like YES made there mark with the help of their groove technology, without that I don’t think they would have made the splash they have.

I’m saying the TE is not a great putter. I’m just saying it doesn’t have a wow factor.

You are right Kiwi…but not many putters do have a WOW factor anymore. TE is at least trying a new twist on the face grooves. Sunset in my opinion does nothing original.

Its a nice looking putter, nothing that original but I’m sure it will putt fine. Only thng that worries me is that 1 piece milled putter normally means lots of $$$. Pretty crowded market they’re getting themselves into.

The TourEdge Geomax is probably the best budget conscious buys on the market.

I agree Kiwi. I can only figure this putter will cost a pretty penny, but will it really be worth it?

I also agree with the Geomax. I have used Tour Edge product a few times in my playing time and while it is a great company it is a company you don’t see everywhere. I also think the Exotics line is a little over priced for what it is worth.

I think this putter really looks too much like a lot of putters already on the market. My main question to Exotics is what does this putter offer me that another company doesn’t? I would say that I could get a smiliar putter for a cheaper price than what Exotics will sell this putter for. Exotics and Tour Edge are two companies that i could see failing this year due to the economy.

Go Exotics! I’m such a big fan of these guys. I’ve been playing the CB1 3 wood for over a year, and I’m ready to drop my TM Burner driver and pick up the original Exotics driver as well because I keep hearing how awesome it is. If Exotics is taking these putters as seriously as they take their fairway woods and drivers, then I’m sure they’ll be great. Mark my words, now that they make every club in the bag, they’ll start creeping up on the big boys real soon. There’s no reason tour guys shouldn’t be using these sticks. They just need to start dropping money on endorsement deals.
