What’s Happening On The Forum: Gear, Reviews and Community Events

There’s something about the start of a new year in golf. New gear drops, planning trips and digging into reviews make for some great conversations. Let’s take a look at what’s been trending on the Forum this week. Maybe you’ll find a thread you want to join!

2025 New releases: All in one spot

If there’s one thing golfers love, it’s fresh gear. This thread started by the Forum staff is loaded with updates on the latest releases for 2025. Drivers, irons, balls and, of course, technology, are all being discussed. Some highlights so far include the new TaylorMade lineup and other new releases from all the major brands.

Forum member William P summed it up nicely: “Release season is hard to follow with so many new products coming out every day. It is nice to have everything in one spot ensuring I don’t miss a single release. “

This thread is perfect if you want to stay in the loop as manufacturers roll out their latest innovations. It’s also a fun place to weigh in on what’s caught your eye or what hasn’t.

Garmin R50: A member’s perspective

Garmin Approach R50_MW Personal Launch Monitors_2024

Sometimes the best reviews come from fellow golfers who are putting gear to the test. Forum member MissionMan recently posted an unofficial review of the Garmin R50, a new, game-changing launch monitor that has most everyone on the Forum drooling.

“A lot of the reviews for the R50 have been really positive. It’s not surprising, it’s an amazing piece of hardware…It’s not going to match the realism of some of the premium simulators, but you have the option to connect to a PC and get these features so it’s still available. For a lot of people, that isn’t important.”

If you’ve been curious about this unit and looking into the launch monitor space, this is a must-read thread with a thorough review from someone who spent their hard-earned cash on it!

Your brand opinion: Srixon

Srixon might not have the flashiest marketing but they’ve built a reputation for quality gear that can hang with the big names. This thread asks readers for their thoughts on the brand and the responses show just how well-regarded Srixon’s products have become across their whole lineup.

Rob Person chimed in: “The new Z-STAR XV ball is the real deal, soft feel, incredible distance. I’m excited to try their other products.” Another member highlighted Srixon’s irons, praising their combination of forgiveness and performance.

It’s the kind of thread where you can learn from firsthand experiences. Whether you’re already a fan of Srixon or just curious about their offerings, this is a great place to explore what makes them a favorite for many.

Spotlight: Why putter fitting matters

We talk a lot about driver fittings but how often do we think about getting fitted for a putter? The latest blog on the Forum site dives into why a proper fitting for your flatstick can be a game-changer.

“If you think putter fitting isn’t worth it, think again. Even small adjustments can have a huge impact on your scores,” the blog explains. From understanding your stroke to choosing the right weight and balance, there’s a lot to consider.

Whether you’re a scratch player or a weekend warrior, this is one piece of gear you don’t want to overlook.
