Top 10 Most Accurate Launch Monitors (Indoor and Outdoor Data)

Launch monitors come with a wide range of features and their ability to double as simulators can make them a compelling investment. However, a launch monitor is only worth the money if it delivers accurate data. Accuracy should be your top priority when choosing a launch monitor. To help you make an informed decision, we tested over a dozen models in both indoor and outdoor settings. If you’re concerned about performance in either environment, these are the launch monitors you should consider.

Top 10 most accurate launch monitors

Bushnell Launch Pro_MW Personal Launch Monitors_2024

We took indoor and outdoor testing data and ranked the top 10 most accurate launch monitors. The most accurate overall was the Bushnell Launch Pro. This is also the best outdoor launch monitor of 2024. Here are a few of the others that ranked near the top:

How accurate is the Bushnell Launch Pro?

The Bushnell Launch Pro stands out as one of the most accurate launch monitors in our testing. To establish accuracy, we compare each device against industry-standard equipment, ensuring a reliable baseline for measurement.

The Launch Pro’s total indoor average deviation of just 1.14 percent reflects exceptional performance across key metrics including a mere 0.36-percent variance in ball speed, 2.82-percent in backspin (92.3 rpm) and 0.23-percent in carry distance (0.2 yards).

Outdoors, it also had reliable results. Again, it stood out in the ball speed category with just a 0.19-percent variance in ball speed, 1.27-percent in backspin (46.5 rpm) and 3.29-percent in carry distance (6.0 yards).

For comparison, some of the least accurate models show outdoor ball speed variances exceeding four percent and backspin deviations as high as 40 percent.

Garmin R50 – Best indoor and best overall

Garmin Approach R50_MW Personal Launch Monitors_2024

The Garmin R50 was the second most accurate launch monitor of 2024 but it was the best overall for indoor performance. It also earned honors as the best launch monitor of 2024. Although it is plenty accurate outdoors, indoor data sets it apart.

The R50 is perfect for golfers looking for a home golf simulator that can double as a launch monitor. It has a 10-inch built-in color touchscreen display so if you don’t have a screen for your simulator room just yet, you can make this work for now. The touchscreen was the stand-out feature of this launch monitor for testers.

Can you find accuracy on a budget?

Rapsodo MLM2PRO_MW Personal Launch Monitors_2024

The Rapsodo MLM2PRO is a great choice if you want accuracy but you are on a budget. It’s priced at $699 but was the third most accurate launch monitor of 2024. You can even use the Rapsodo MLM2PRO as a simulator if you have an iOS or Android device, cables, or Airplay/Screen Mirroring to a Smart TV.

One of our favorite features in the Rapsodo MLM2PRO is the ability to capture slow-motion down-the-line video.

There is a lot of talk online that the R50 has issues with detecting chips. I’ve held back getting it because of that. Suprised it didn’t come up here or have they fixed it?

I have the MLM2PRO and I find it extremely accurate (although I think there is some question on the faster ball speeds of a driver). There were some connectivity issues early on. But recent updates have all but eliminated that. Updates have also improved features in the range modes and on the large assortment of courses. But the annual subscription, even with the new lifetime option, moves the price much closer to the Bushnell. Without the subscription, you lose almost all the features that puts the unit over the top of the other low cost options. If I were considering it again, I might opt for the Bushnell.

Even when adding in the $499 lifetime subscription the MLM2Pro is $500 less than the Bushnell and still significantly less than the Garmin R50. MLM2Pro for the win!
