The Garmin Approach R50 lets you play year-round with its’ launch monitor capability and built-in simulator.  Three high-speed cameras will capture the metrics to help you perfect your swing, while the built-in simulator will have you playing virtual rounds from drive to putt at over 43,000 real-world courses with Home Town Hero app.

• You’re working on club gapping and putting in range time with your clubs.

The Garmin Approach R50 training mode will “track stats for each club, and get a shot dispersion chart based on an advanced ball flight trajectory model.” All this, as well as, ball and club metrics can be had right on the screen during your range time.

Don’t Buy This For If

• You’re looking for a pocket-sized launch monitor to slip into your golf bag to take to the range. 

While the Garmin Approach R50 comes with a padded, carrying case and is surprisingly light for it’s size, it’s big. You’re not going to casually slip this thing into any pocket.

Buy This For Indoor Use If

• You’re looking for home golf simulator that can double as a launch monitor. 

With a screen, projector, and HDMI cable, the Garmin Approach R50 can double as the brain for your indoor golf simulator or be disconnected and taken to the course to double as your outdoor personal launch monitor.

• You don’t have a projector for your home setup, no problem. 

The Garmin Approach R50 with 10” built-in, color touchscreen display has you covered.

Don’t Buy This For Indoor Use If

• You’re looking for a launch monitor for down-the-line video analysis.  

While the Garmin Approach R50 allows you to “view high-speed impact videos for immediate visual feedback on how you’re striking each shot”, it does not capture video down the line.
