For most companies, this is the quiet season for new gear releases. Companies have finished the 2026 releases and are planning for 2027. Not so with PXG. If PXG has shown us anything over the years, it is that they are not like most companies.
It may be the dog days of summer but PXG believes this is the perfect time to introduce a new zero-torque putter.
Honestly, PXG may be on to something with their timing. This is the time of the summer golf season when many of our putters have run out of birdies. If the current gamer is running on empty, it’s definitely time to drop something new in the bag.
Perhaps the new PXG One & Done ZT is just the putter to fill the end of your summer with birdies.
PXG makes great putters
I still think people don’t realize how good PXG is at making putters. First of all, they produce interesting heads, like the original One & Done. Additionally, their putters are packed with PXG’s proprietary technologies.
Like a number of other PXG mallets, the One & Done ZT’s thin hollow stainless-steel body is filled with PXG’s S COR polymer. Not only does the lighter polymer center boost the overall MOI values but it provides support for the face.
The pyramid-milled face is only 0.055 inches thick. The thin face gives the roll pop but without the supporting polymer, the face would collapse at impact.
PXG eliminates torque in a few different ways. Unlike the Allan ZT where a novel hosel removed torque, the One & Done ZT eliminates torque by having the shaft attached directly to the putter’s center of gravity. This design mirrors the build plan for the PXG Hot Rod ZT.
Once you add in PXG’s multi-material M16 shaft, adjustable weight system and wide range of PXG grip options, you have one of the most high-tech putters in the marketplace.
Deeper dive into the PXG One & Done
The new PXG One & Done shares its technologies with the other PXG mallets but it is definitely its own putter. One of the other things I appreciate about PXG is that they are unafraid to produce “atypical” designs.
Naturally, PXG also offers their spin on classic putter designs but many of their putters, like the Mustang ZT, are pure PXG creations.
The original Battle Ready One and Done had that something different vibe. It was a high MOI mallet with a single round circle in the cavity. With the Battle Ready II One & Done, PXG dropped the ball, transitioning to a more traditional alignment system.
The PXG One & Done ZT is a bit of a combination of the two Battle Ready versions, with the new zero-torque hosel location. Its shape is similar to the previous versions, with the ball-ish shaped (heavy on the “ish”) open hole in the center providing an analogous alignment aid.
The big visual difference is that the shaft location breaks up the open center of the putter.
This is the zero-torque trade-off. Hopefully, the combination of the three alignment lines and the zero-torque performance is enough to make you quickly not care that the shaft is interrupting the looks down the middle.
No, it’s not a copy of …
Before you ask, the PXG One & Done ZT is not a copy of the L.A.B. Golf VZN.1. I, too, see some resemblance between the perimeters of the two putters but there was no copying happening here.
First of all, the looks are not really all that similar. Additionally, it is easy to see how the One & Done ZT is an evolution of the previous One & Done models. Those putter models pre-date the VZN.1 by years.
Secondly, and more importantly, the release dates for the two putters are way too close for PXG to have seen the VZN.1 and decided to copy it.
That is not the way that putter production works. The putters we see today in the shop likely spent months or years in the design and development phases. Figuring out how to mass produce them takes time as well.
There is a resemblance but there is nothing sinister at work here.
This is a good One and I bet PXG is not Done
As I said, PXG plays by their own rules when it comes to putter releases. With most companies, we expect to see the bulk of the releases coinciding with the PGA Show in January.

I appreciate the surprise. Hopefully, another putter will release when I’m not expecting it.
