COBRA KING TEC is one of the more reliable hybrids on the market. It places in the Top 10 for all three of our scoring metrics: accuracy, distance, and forgiveness. Accuracy is its best performance attribute. In our accuracy scoring category, KING TEC finishes 5th overall. One of the best features of the COBRA KING TEC is its adjustability, which helps set it apart from others. Golfers can adjust loft and move weights in the head via 3 different weight ports. Both of these components allow users to optimize performance versus other hybrids.
► You want all around performance: COBRA KING TEC is one of the best all around hybrids. It isn’t the best hybrid for a specific scoring metric. However, it showcases consistency by being in the Top 10 for accuracy, distance, and forgiveness.
► You like adjustability: Surprisingly, there are still hybrids that don’t offer adjustability. As we can see in testing, a hybrid doesn’t need to have adjustability to perform well. However, it certainly helps in the long run, especially since every golfer is different. COBRA KING TEC offers a plethora of adjustability via their loft sleeve. Additionally, there are three movable weights.
✖︎ You are on a budget: COBRA KING TEC is still $299.99, which is similar to most new hybrids. This hybrid was released in 2023. So, if you are trying to find a budget hybrid option, you may want to look elsewhere.
Taking into account total distance and carry distance, our distance scoring is a metric ultimately telling you the total yards achieved by the club.

Accuracy evaluates if a player’s shots with each club are above or below what’s expected based on that player’s skill level. By eliminating variables in player ability, accuracy determines how well the club improves a player’s overall score.

Forgiveness measures how well a club corrects for hits that are center or off center off the face of the club. A high forgiveness rating tells you that a club does well at maintaining consistency in performance when your swing fluctuates.

Ball speed measures how fast the ball is traveling off the face of the club. We eliminate variables like player swing speed or ability, so you can compare ball speeds off the face as affected by the club, not the player.

We evaluate the percentage of shots that hit the fairway compared to shots in the rough. This shows the accuracy of a club, with a higher percentage earning a higher accuracy rating.

I picked up a Cobra king tec 3 Hybrid from the used section at the local PGA superstore. It came with the stock X-stiff shaft option. When testing it at the pga store it was in the stock sleeve setting and had the 12g weights in the heel and in the back. It was carrying a little short of the number I was looking for and would occasionally get the left hooking miss. The employee let me adjust the loft setting to -1.5 and change the weights to put the 12g weights in the toe and back. That gave me the exact carry I was wanting while being able to hit it straight to a slight fade.
It’s now my 240-250 yard club and when comparing my stats using arccos with the cobra king tech on course I am going strokes when in pull this out of the bag.
