I may have to agree with others about the weld part, but after watching several TV shows on welding I can only imagine that the weld could be cleaned up more if desired. With that being said, I like it as a trade mark for this gentleman. He didn’t do anything else to the putter leaving his trade mark so maybe that could be it. Odyessy has those two/three ball putters that you know the brand right away – maybe the left weld is just that which I think was alluded to earlier.
In any case, that putter looks much better and probably rolls a ball much better than it did before. My wife is going to kill me when I send my putters off to get refinished! Anyone care to loan me some money so I don’t have to sleep in the garage the rest of the year? (teasing)

I know this is a smart alec question, ;) but I have to ask it. Is this putter called a “Customized Scotty Cameron Del Mar by Tom Slighter” or is this putter now called a “Tommy Slameron”?

I have to say, I’m not sure I’m keen on seeing the weld marks on this putter. I understand the concept of it seeming more handcrafted, but it also makes me think of someone with a broken putter who tried to weld it at home. But overall, I’m blown away by what Tom was able to do with this putter. I can’t imagine how many years of experience you would need to be able to transform a club like this without the fear of ruining the putter all together. You’re the man Tom!

You can refinish all your clubs…although you might not want to move your hosel on your irons ;)

I love the fact that we get to see these pics of Tom at work. I appreciate the look inside! This is one sharp putter that he refinished. It looks so much better than it did at the beginning. I highly recommend Tom and his shop. They make great custom putters and their refinishing is second to none.

Tom is one of the best at customizing putters, in the entire market. I like the look of the exposed weld. It is just a personal preference. In some cases, that weld can be cleaned up to look seamless, if the customer asks for it. Just a personal thing, I guess. If you look in the Cameron Registry, the “welded necks” are a huge upgrade from a seamless looking piece. I think that it shows more handwork in the putter. There is a company that makes customs http://www.neadcustomputters.com that is amazing at cleaning up the welds when asked. Gene Nead is relatively new to the putter game, but is an amazing guy. He has spent most of his life in NASCAR as a crew chief and has brought some of that ingenuity to the game of golf in his putters.
Tom Slighter is the king of customization, make no mistake.

Nice… I’m surprised the weld isn’t finished off to look more seemless though. Is that just the look/style they were going for? I would assume that the welded hosel could be milled in a more seemless manner, if the customer desired?
