I have a love-hate relationship with golf training aids. Some are genuinely helpful but plenty take up space, cost too much and don’t actually improve your game. The three training aids I’m highlighting here aren’t necessarily the biggest names or the flashiest products. I’m not even saying they are the best golf training aids on the market. But they certainly deserve more attention than they receive. Each one offers real value for golfers who want to practice with a purpose. If you haven’t tried these yet, I would.
Divot Board
I first spoke with the owner of Divot Board just a few months after it launched (early 2020). He sent one to my house and everyone loved it right away.
The brilliance of the Divot Board lies in its ability to easily teach the concept of impact. Even beginners instantly “get it” when they see the contact pattern. It’s very simple. Put the ball on the board and then analyze your divot pattern.
The Divot Board comes with a carabiner, allowing you to clip it onto your golf bag. However, I preferred using it at home for practice and then I’d go to the range without the Divot Board to see how much more consistent my ball striking had become.
For full disclosure, our Divot Board wore out over time but it got a ton of use from me, friends and family. They now offer replacement pads so you don’t have to replace the whole thing when the hitting pad wears out.

- You’re working on the swing path and low-point control.
❌ Don’t buy this if:
- You would rather only hit from the grass or you don’t have room at home to take a swing.
Stance Towel
When I was teaching lessons, I used to spend a lot of time setting up alignment sticks and tees as a station. Most golfers have no idea how far off their setup is until it’s visualized.
The Stance Towel fixes that problem in seconds.
Simply toss it down when you arrive at the range and immediately have a guide for foot placement and ball position. I love training aids that improve awareness and this one does a great job of that. It’s reversible with the short game on one side and a long game on the other.
When you purchase, make sure to select right- or left-handed.

Tour Aim 2.0
The Tour Aim 2.0 is one of the most versatile training aids I’ve ever used. I think of it as the Swiss Army Knife of golf practice. While you could call this an alignment aid, I find it more useful for working on things like path, body alignment and even swing plane.
With Tour Aim, setting up correctly takes seconds. You’ll not only work on target line alignment but also on your swing plane, body aim, putting alignment and even full swing divot patterns.
