The Best Budget Drivers You Can Buy Right Now

The words “budget” and “golf drivers” don’t usually belong in the same sentence. Some of you might even cringe at the idea that the best budget golf drivers cost around $399 but that’s undeniably better than $699. We pulled together drivers from our testing that performed well without being the most expensive options. You will also find a few deals on top performers from last year. If you are trying to stay on a budget, the smarter move might be to look for a used club or a leftover from 2024. Either way, here are the best budget golf drivers of 2025 — whatever “budget” might mean these days.

Tour Edge Exotics E725 ($399.99)

The Tour Edge Exotics E725 was the most accurate driver of 2025. Testers praised it for producing consistently straight shots but as we have seen with more accuracy-focused drivers, many noted that “there’s no pop.”

Distance numbers with the E725 were not as strong but if you want a reliable fairway finder for under $400, this is about as good as it gets for a budget driver in 2025.

Buy If: You prioritize accuracy over distance.

Avoid If: You primarily seek distance or already struggle with high spin rates.

Sub 70 859 ($399.00)

The Sub 70 859 was the runner-up for best driver for accuracy in the high swing speed driver test. It scored a 9.6 out of 10 for accuracy and an 8.4 for both distance and forgiveness. Testers said this one was “sneaky good” and had great spin control.

This would be a good choice for higher swing speed players who are focused on accuracy and don’t want to spend $699 on a driver.

Buy If: You have a faster swing and prioritize hitting fairways consistently.

Avoid If: Maximum distance is your primary concern or you frequently miss the center of the face.

Tour Edge Exotics C725 ($399.99)

In the mid-swing speed test, the Tour Edge Exotics C725 got a top five for accuracy and finished 11th out of 37 in that test. It’s another budget-friendly option that excels in accuracy but doesn’t quite compete in the distance and forgiveness categories.

Testers called the C725 a “solid all-around performer.”

Buy If: You seek reliable performance and strong accuracy without premium pricing.

Avoid If: Elite forgiveness or maximum distance are non-negotiable.

STIX Compete Driver ($299.00)

The Stix Complete driver is budget-friendly but its performance may require some sacrifices. The Stix Complete finished in the bottom half of our 2025 testing. It lacks the premium quality we see from other brands and it’s certainly not as confidence-inducing at setup.

However, if you’re solely looking for a new driver for less than $300, it’s an option.

Buy If: You have a very tight budget and moderate performance expectations.

Avoid If: You expect performance comparable to premium or mid-tier drivers.

Top value picks from 2024 drivers

The 2025 new driver releases didn’t leave us with many budget-friendly options for you to choose from. However, there are still some really good deals from 2024 that still make sense to purchase.

Callaway Paradym AI Smoke Triple Diamond ($399)

The Callaway Paradym Ai Smoke Triple Diamond was runner-up for best driver of 2024. It has premium-level distance technology and it didn’t sacrifice forgiveness.

Subjective feedback from testers was also positive. One tester described the Callaway Paradym Ai Smoke Triple Diamond as “streamlined and visually appealing.”

Buy If: You’re a strong ball striker seeking maximum distance at a reduced cost.

Avoid If: You need an accuracy-oriented driver.

TaylorMade Stealth 2 Plus (Used ~$230)

The Stealth 2 Plus was retested in 2024 following its top performance in 2023. You’ll have to look for this one used but there are plenty available for less than $250. The Stealth 2 Plus earned fifth place overall in 2024.

It had better distance and forgiveness performance than it did in terms of accuracy. If you want more yards and don’t want to break the bank, it’s a good used driver to consider.

Buy If: Your main goal is adding yards cheaply.

Avoid If: You’re seeking forgiveness and consistent accuracy.

COBRA Darkspeed LS ($299)

The COBRA Darkspeed LS achieved a top-10 finish in 2024. It had strong forgiveness performance. Testers found it to be consistent and reliable. The best part is that you can still find new models for less than $300.

Buy If: You want balanced performance and affordability.

Avoid If: You need maximum accuracy.

Srixon ZX7 Mk II ($349)

The Srixon ZX7 Mk II was a top-10 driver in 2024. It had strong distance performance and held its own in forgiveness. It’s not the most accurate, however, which is what kept it out of the top five. Testers did find it to be dependable off the tee.

Like Tour Edge, Srixon offers performance that surprises players.

Buy If: You’re looking for a strong mix of distance and forgiveness on a budget.

Avoid If: You’re looking for a pure fairway finder.

Wilson Dynapower Carbon (Around $250)

The Wilson DynaPWR Carbon was a top-10 driver in 2024. It demonstrated strong forgiveness and accuracy, competing with some of the best drivers in the test. Where it can’t compete is distance. If you’re looking for a reliable option to help you find fairways, this is an affordable choice.

Buy If: Your priority is affordable forgiveness.

Avoid If: Distance is your top requirement.

Final thoughts

With “budget” drivers still hovering around $399 in 2025, exploring the used market is a smart move. Just make sure the driver you choose fits your game. Getting a professional fitting is still worth it, even when you’re trying to save money.

The Wilson Cabon is available new for $170 with optional shaft change to a Black Haz. It was a long driver not sure why you said distance is an issue.

Another to throw on this list – PXG has the Gen 5 0311 for $299 on their website. The Gen 6 0311 is $399. Both great drivers, especially for the price.

I purchased a like new Titleist GS1 driver, at a great price, that’s working great for me. I’m ok with a couple years old technology.

The Wilson is $170 new right now from a few spots, I’m very tempted to try one out. The ZX7 can be had used for $100, I might have way too many drivers this year. 🤣

Even better – pick up the “used” Tour Exotics E723 or C723 on the TE website. $239.

My “used” E723 driver arrived in shiny new plastic – not a mark on it. With headcover. Difference between 723 and 725 is basically cosmetic.

And yes, the E723 is a excellent fairway finder. Down the middle. My driver ss is 94-98 mph. Avg 235-255 depending on roll out. Maybe I’d get 3-4 more yds from another brand, but I play for low scores, not driver distance. I’m not trying to be a driving range hero…just a solid single digit player.

If you like to make adjustments, this driver has options.

I’m curious, did you test the E725? It looks like it had some differences in terms of construction.

You left off the TaylorMade SIM 2 Max. Still hands down the best driver under $300 NEW!

While I read many of your reviews including this one, I never see reviews on the Kirkland brands beyond their balls and sometimes gloves. I’m interested how their driver stacks up with the list of budget driver?

I’m very interested in Tour Edge. Finding more fairways is going to serve me better than the 10-15 yards I might gain elsewhere. Plus, my driver is so old, I’m bound to pick up some yards. Win-win for me.

I went to a Tour Edge demo day to hit both the C and E. I loved the nice crack the E made, but I had much better distance and a tighter dispersion with the C, although its sound was a more traditional tink. The only reason I bought the Sub 70 859 was I could demo it on the course, and I did, so my anecdotal data was more realistic than banging balls at a facility.

If you want to save money and you want a brand new model, I’d start with those three models.

I have the c725 and my brother bought the E725. The E does spin a little more and the C does add a little distance. The C725 is actually longer than my LTDx LS so not sure so mileage may vary with this.

Oh and we both went with the cypher 2.0 shaft instead of the stock offerings. We were able to try all there shafts at a fitter. Once we slapped that shaft in there the club came alive!
