Top 3 Best Blade Putters for Long Putts

If you’re tired of three-putting, it pays to have a putter that performs from long range. While you might not expect to make those lengthy putts, a putter that consistently leaves you with a tap-in can be a game-changer. If you’re looking for a blade putter that gives you a real edge on longer putts, here are the three best options for 2025.

Scotty Cameron Super Select Newport 2

In 2025, our testing evolved with the introduction of the PuttView Handicap, a new metric that enables us to assess putter performance at various distances. Among the 32 blade putters tested by 20 avid golfers, the Scotty Cameron Super Select Newport 2 stood out as the top performer from long range.

Comments like “feel is great,” “rolls the ball exceptionally well,” and “fantastic from long range” were frequent from testers. It also led the field in long-range make percentage and proximity to the hole, a critical stat for reducing three-putts.

At $449.99, it’s one of the most expensive blade putters in our test. While some testers hesitated due to the price, they agreed the performance and premium feel helped justify the cost.

Its performance at short and mid-range distances was closer to average, so those who struggle more from close range may want to look elsewhere.

Buy this if:

✅ You want the best-performing blade putter from long range.
✅ Feel, sound, and visual appeal are major decision factors for you.

Don’t buy this if:

❌ You struggle most with short or mid-range putts.
❌ You’re looking for a value-priced option under $200.

Tommy Armour Impact No.1

The Tommy Armour Impact No. 1 ranks second overall for PuttView Handicap from long-range putts and fourth from short range. It’s a great value pick if you struggle with either short or long distances.

This strong performance helped it crack the top 10 overall in blade putter testing.

Testers highlighted its straightforward look and balance. At just $149.99, it’s a rare combination of value and performance.

The Impact No. 1’s mid-range performance was a notable weakness, landing below average relative to the rest of the field.

Buy this if:

✅ You want strong performance from short and long range.
✅ You’re looking for a blade putter with great value under $150.

Don’t buy this if:

❌ Mid-range putting is your primary weakness.
❌ You prefer putters with a more premium name or finish.

Cleveland HB Soft 2 Black Model 1

The Cleveland HB Soft 2 Black Model 1 ranks third in long-range putting performance and quietly proves it belongs among the best blade putters of 2025.

Cleveland has done well, especially from a value standpoint, in some of our recent putter testing. The HB Soft 2 Black Model 1 not only ranks third in our long-range category, but it also ranks third in the mid-range putting.

Testers liked its feel, setup, and overall balance. When you add in the fact that it’s one of the more affordable options in our test, it’s certainly a putter worth trying.

Buy this if:

✅ You want strong performance from both mid- and long-range.

✅ You’re looking for a quality blade without spending over $250.

Don’t buy this if:

❌ You prefer something more premium-branded or tour-played.

“Short,” “medium,” and “long putt” thresholds have still not been disclosed in any of the 2025 putter articles. Glad to see the appropriately priced putters holding their own.

I own a Scotty Cameron Special Select 2 and IMO it’s ok. I honestly think it’s overrated for a mass production putter. I follow @PorzakGolf and I learned the basics of putting while recovering from Foot surgery. It’s all about fitting for the right putter and getting the club made to your specifications. The swing arc of the stroke (straight, slight or strong arcs), Loft, Lie, Length, Shaft (Steel/Graphite). The basics of setup for consistent roll just watch JT’s interview about Xanders tips in putting. If Cameron putters were club made to your fitting I believe they would be better. Any putter fit for your stroke with the proper set up and practice a $150 putter will do wonders.

Total BS–the best putter, blade or otherwise is the one FITTED to your stroke. Over the years I have used just about every Scotty Cameron putter designed, but NONE have delivered the results of the EVNRoll mid blade EV2 I was fitted for at their putting studio. Readers, don’t be fooled by this ridiculous ranking

Um, that’s what Mygolfspy does, they evaluate and rank what they like the best. You must be new.

Granted you need a putter that fits you and your stroke, but you have to get your fundamentals right for that perfectly fit putter to be effective. Too many people think they can buy improvement via equipment only. If you’re scratch you can probably put with a rake and if you’re a 20 Hcp you probably can’t putt with any putter. Find someone who knows putting, have them correct your flaws and then practice. And practice some more.

Once fitted for grip size/style and putter head shape, I really think that putters are the most realistic “archer not the arrow” metaphor you often hear about other clubs. Most putter head shapes are generously borrowed from other designs: 8802, Answer, batwing/fang, potato masher, etc. Yeah, its cool to say you have a Scotty. But if the $150 Tommy Armour is almost as good, buy one for yourself and practice your putts, then buy two more for your friends still rocking the blade they stole from the mini golf center in 1997.

What if you get a situation where you find a great putter for long putts but it doesn’t work for short putts? I think you have to look for a put ter that works for you for every scenario.

Love seeing Tommy Armour and Cleveland making waves against their much more expensive peers.
