Top 5 Longest (And Shortest) Golf Balls For Low Swing Speed Golfers

If you’ve been waiting for golf ball results because distance is what matters most to you, this is the information you’ll need. The 2025 Golf Ball Test, presented by UNRL, measured every ball under slow-speed conditions to see which models delivered the most distance and which lagged.

Some of the shortest balls excelled in spin and control around the greens. There’s always a trade-off but these are the top five longest and shortest golf balls for slow swing speed players in 2025.

Longest golf balls for slow swing speeds 2025 (Irons)

The longest golf ball for mid-iron shots is the Vice Pro Plus. The Titleist Pro V1x came in dead last at 121 yards, nearly 13 yards shorter than the leaders.

The average distance on iron shots for slower swing speed players was 130 yards. Some of these “short” iron performers (like the Callaway Chrome Tour X) are also known for their higher spin rates, which makes them excellent for holding greens but costly in total iron yardage.

Slow-swing-speed golfers face a real distance gap between the longest and shortest performers. Choosing a ball like Vice Pro Plus or ERC Soft can give you nearly a full club more distance compared to a high-spin model like the Pro V1x.

Longest golf balls for slow swing speeds 2025 (Driver)

At slow driver speeds, the longest ball is the Callaway Chrome Tour Triple Diamond. Interestingly, it’s also the longest ball for the high swing speed players off the tee.

On the other end, the TaylorMade TP5 was the shortest. It’s important to note that the TP5 also generated the highest spin in the 35-yard wedge test, making it one of the best balls for short-game control.

Overlaps and insights

After looking at the longest and shortest golf balls for low swing speed players, here are a few interesting things to note:

  • Maxfli’s split personality: The Maxfli Tour shows up among the longest iron balls, while the Maxfli Tour X lands in the shortest group. Same family, very different results. Make sure you have the right Maxfli golf ball in play for your speed.
  • Pro V1 differences: The Pro V1 was middle-of-the-pack, but the Pro V1x landed near the very bottom for iron distance. The Left Dash version, however, was among the longest. Small construction tweaks can matter when choosing a golf ball.

This article is useless, it contradicts data provided in the annual ball test. Who’s the editor? do they not check anything before posting?

I checked about half a dozen numbers and the 2025 chart does not match what is published here. Makes me wonder.????

I think that they defined slow as 86mph w/ the driver. But…there are A LOT of golfers much lower than 86mph. So, for those golfers, the mygolfspy ball test is useless. The slow speed results aren’t that different than the mid results. This test would be more useful if the slow were much much slower.

How can you title say “Top 5 Longest (And Shortest) Golf Balls For Low Swing Speed Golfers” and then nowhere in the article do you actually define what “Low Swing Speed” is. What is slow for a driver? 75mph, 80mph, 85mph? What is slow for a 7 iron? 55mph, 60mph, 65mph, 70mph?

Without that data, the article is useless.

If you are testing for slow swing speeds, why not use the Bridgestone ball (RX) that is designed for that instead of the one designed (B XS) for swing speeds above 105 ?

The lead photo for the article shows a Pro V1, and the Final Thoughts discusses the Pro V1, but the test results are shown for the Pro V1x and Pro V1x left dash, not the Pro V1. These are different balls.

It would be helpful if the brand and loft of the 7 iron used were given as lofts vary among manufacturers. The loft of the driver would also help.

Please proofread this stuff before posting it. Seeing the poor mid iron performance of the Maxfi Tour X shown in your article I went to the test tablular data because it seemed odd. Sure enough, the Tour X actually showed a total yardage of 131.4 yards, not 124.

It’s the Maxfli Tour S that was shorter and seemingly should have been included in your one graphic above.

The other odd thing is that many (maybe most or even all) of the yardages quoted in the graphics don’t even agree with the actual values from the tablular data. What gives with that? Most are quite close but what would explain why they are different at all?

It would be very helpful for those of us who fit in the slower swing speed category to have you do the work and tell us the best ball for distance off the tee and control, spin around the greens. We can’t use two balls on every hole so please
Pick the best option for maximum efficiency. Your list isn’t really helpful because it doesn’t offer the best option

Bravo! What players are interested in is the BEST all around ball! Interestingly your link for the Vice Pro Plus takes you to the PGA Superstore which targets this ball for High Swing speeds recommending the PRO or AIR for medium slow

Did I miss it, or nowhere in the article was it specified WHAT is considered a “slow swing speed”. That info seems kinda pertinent.
