Top 3 Longest Player’s Distance Irons 2025

Player’s distance irons are designed to bridge the gap between traditional player’s irons and game-improvement models. For golfers who want sleek looks with added power, distance can be a game-changer. In our 2025 Most Wanted Player’s Distance Iron testing, distance was evaluated using carry and total yardage for the 5-iron, 7-iron and pitching wedge. Based on that data, these are the three longest player’s distance irons of 2025.

Mizuno JPX 925 Hot Metal

Mizuno JPX 925 Hot Metal Pro was the longest player’s distance iron in our 2025 Most Wanted Player’s Distance Iron testing, earning a category-leading 9.6/10 in distance.

For golfers who want to prioritize yardage while still maintaining a refined look at address, the JPX 925 Hot Metal Pro stands out.

It’s one of the hottest irons in the test but, inevitably, that comes with trade-offs. While testers praised the solid feel and long carry numbers, the JPX 925 didn’t score as well in accuracy or forgiveness. That makes a professional fitting especially important to dial in gapping and trajectory control.

Buy this if:

✅ You want the longest player’s distance iron available in 2025.
✅ You want explosive distance in a confidence-inspiring design.

Don’t buy this if:

❌ You struggle with distance control or inconsistent contact.
❌ You want more accuracy and forgiveness baked in.

Callaway Apex Ai200

Callaway Apex Ai200 ranked second in distance among player’s distance irons in our 2025 testing, earning a 9.5/10 for distance and an overall score of 8.9.

The Apex Ai200 is one of the hottest irons in the category, combining powerful carry numbers with a sleek, tour-inspired look. Testers noted its strong distance and surprising accuracy, making it one of the most well-rounded options for players who want both.

The forgiveness score came in below average for the field. That means the Apex Ai200 may not be as consistent from swing to swing unless you’re properly fitted.

Buy this if:

✅ You want a player’s distance iron that delivers both distance and accuracy.
✅ You prefer a compact look with plenty of ball speed.

Don’t buy this if:

❌ You’re looking for maximum consistency or shot-to-shot forgiveness.
❌ You’re not planning to get fitted to control potential “hot spots.”

Maxfli XC2 Irons

Maxfli XC2 ranked third in distance among player’s distance irons in our 2025 testing, earning a 9.2/10 for distance and an overall score of 8.4.

The XC2 offers strong ball speed and distance performance in a design that’s clean and playable. Testers appreciated its hot face and solid feel. It also has a more affordable price point compared to many other irons in the category.

The XC2 didn’t score as well for accuracy. If you’re already a precise ball-striker, it may work.

Buy this if:

✅ You want elite distance without paying premium brand prices.
✅ You’re a confident ball-striker looking for added yardage.

Don’t buy this if:

❌ You need more help with accuracy and dispersion.
❌ You prefer irons with a stronger track record or broader name recognition.

The JPX’s have the strongest lofts, hence the distance. A 42.5 defeee PW? Give me a break…
MGS, you need a metric on how many yards based upon the degree of loft! This applies to all distance/forgiveness calculations.
