Blades Brown is one of my favorite young players to watch. I’ve seen him play a few times in person and, hopefully, he has a long career ahead of him.
Callaway recently released a video breaking down Brown’s current WITB. What made it interesting wasn’t just the list of clubs. It was hearing Brown explain why certain clubs are in the bag, what he sees from them and which parts of the setup he clearly trusts.

1. His 19-degree utility iron is one of his favorite clubs
Brown called his Callaway X Forged UT a “podium club,” putting it behind only his putter and driver among his favorite clubs in the bag. He said his 58-degree wedge and 2-iron are tied for third.
Technically, he called the 19-degree utility iron a “2 1/2 iron.” The appeal is pretty clear. Brown said it is reliable off the tee, useful when he needs to keep the ball under the wind and a club he trusts when he needs to get one in play.
He also shared an interesting course-dependent detail. His stock apex with the utility iron is around 80 feet. If he is playing a firm and fast course where he needs something that lands softer, he may switch into a hybrid. That hybrid flies a little farther and peaks closer to 120 feet.
2. The new 3-wood solved a specific miss
The 3-wood was one of the more detailed parts of the video. Brown said he put the Callaway Quantum Ti in the bag right before the Puerto Rico tournament and described it as “revolutionary” for his game.
Before this, he was playing a Triple Diamond fairway wood with a Tensei White shaft. Brown said he could hit it OK but the mishits were severe. His example was a high-spin right shot that could go about 200 yards into the wind instead of his usual 270.
With the Quantum Ti 3-wood, he said the head and shaft fit his swing better. He can hit the low bullet when he needs it but still get height when the shot calls for it. He also mentioned spin in the 3,500- to 3,600-rpm range and said he saw more ball speed than he had with his previous 3-wood.
3. The putter setup is more specific than it looks
Brown called his putter “the wand” which tells you quite a bit before he even explains the details.
He is using an Odyssey Ai-ONE Double Wide with a crank neck. Brown said he previously used a center-shafted model before working with his putting coach and getting into the Double Wide.
The biggest detail was the alignment. Brown uses a small topline instead of a backline because he says he aims the putter better that way. With a line on the back, he said his eyes don’t see it as well because of the curvature. With the topline, he feels like he aims better on both short and long putts.
Final thoughts
The full Blades Brown WITB is interesting but the best part of the video is how specific he gets about why certain clubs work.
