      WTF
After that fire on Maui they shouldn’t even do this event.
And that is some ugly crap.
They really shouldn’t be capitalising on anything Hawaiian at this point unless they give all the money they make off this to the local fire victims not the millionaires and outsiders

Most of those locals would disagree. Go talk to the people that actually live there. They make their money from tourism and this would help drive their own livelihood and drive money to those who are in need.

The more people avoid Hawaii, the more it will hurt the fire victims.

Why shouldn’t they have this event? You want everyone to hide under a rock for a few years?

You aren’t wrong about how a portion of profits for this (hopefully a large portion), should be going to Maui Strong and Lahaina disaster relief programs. That said, Maui like all of the islands lives and breaths on tourism. And the relationship between Hawaiians and tourists in complex. So should that cancel an event that is likely donating a huge amount of $ to the local recovery efforts? Probably not. However should the tournament, and brands that are making these special collections do something extra? Oh yeah.

I agree. Let’s see what the players do with the prize money. Let’s hope it is a net increase in income for the island residents.
