Fred Couples Unvieled as Newest Malbon Athlete

The silkiest swing in golf is about to be dripped out in the swaggiest clothing in golf.

A few years after becoming the face of the attempted Ashworth resurgence, Freddy Couples is signing with Malbon, a move that has set social media ablaze.

The reality, though? I think Fred Couples and Malbon are a perfect fit. Scroll back in time to any of Freddy’s fits and it’s easy to see why.

His repertoire includes visors, baggy pants, and loose-fitting polos. All the stuff that Malbon does very, very well. That, coupled with (no pun intended) the fact that Malbon is starting to lean more into heritage clothing with a series of knits, piques and the like, makes Malbon a great fit for the future of Freddy’s golf career.

Heck, the man can rock a sweater vest with the best of ’em. And we all know Malbon knows how to turn a sweater vest into a marketing miracle.

Couples joins a stable of other prominent athletes, including Jason Day, Garrick Higgo and Charley Hull.

“I am incredibly honored to welcome Freddie Couples to the squad. Freddie’s legacy in golf speaks for itself—he’s one of the game’s greats, he embodies the understated confidence and authenticity we stand for,” said Stephen Malbon, founder of Malbon Golf.

“This partnership represents a significant milestone for us, and we couldn’t be more excited to work with someone I have admired for so long.”

Anyone else notice that he was was rocking Asics, instead of Ecco, at the PNC Championship? That’s odd to see as well. Maybe MyGolfSpy can elaborate on thar relationship. Unless that happened last year.

Hilarious referring to golfers, especially men aged 60+ as “athletes”.

      Highly doubt it.
I’m 15 years younger, can run a marathon in less than 3 hours and I don’t have a beer belly.
It is laughable to describe golfers as “athletes”.

Malbon, in my opinion, is “ugly baggy”. Not a fan. Thankfully – we have Peter Millar, Travis Mathew, and Holderness & Bourne.

Great for Freddy, who has grown an obvious beer belly. Creative angles used in the photos.

      1. Sorry, but Freddy will always be associated with Ashworth in my mind and the mind of the collective golfing world.
      2. He must need the money.
