Golf Doesn’t Need Another Polo. Idaka Golf Knows That.

Fifteen minutes.

Roughly the amount of time it takes to play one hole of golf.

That’s all the time I needed to know that Idaka Golf, founded by apparel industry veteran Steve Pirring, was going to be different than the rest of the burgeoning golf apparel landscape.

Different in a good way.

And, I’d argue, different in the right way.

Because what Pirring is building, or rather what he’s already built (and is looking to scale), is something you can’t spin out of cotton and polyester.

For Pirring and Idaka, the journey to building a damn good golf polo is less about the polo itself (although they definitely nailed that) and more about how golfers feel when they interact with the Idaka brand.

Just about anyone can make a golf polo but not everyone is willing to put the consumer first AND make a great polo.

Pirring isn’t grinding his life away on the road (away from his wife and daughter) to put out a mediocre golf polo. No, he isn’t pouring his heart and soul into a brand that bears his daughter’s name to settle for half-assed customer service and templatized apparel designs.

The 20-year apparel industry veteran will have none of that.

Idaka Golf is doing things the right way. That all starts with listening to you: the consumer, the golfer who’ll actually end up in a Sebastian Hoodie or Capri polo or their new glove (coming soon).

Because golf doesn’t need another polo. Heck, my closet doesn’t need another polo. But you know what I do need? What golfers have been craving?

A brand that listens. A community that gives you purpose. A David versus Goliath story to root for.

That’s Pirring’s superpower. Listening and empathizing. It was clear to me after just 15 minutes of talking with Pirring that he genuinely cared about me and my story.

He gives the same level of care to every golfer who puts their trust (and hard-earned cash) in the Idaka Golf brand. Have a problem with your purchase? Pirring’s wife is there to pick up the phone. Got product feedback, good or bad? Pirring takes into account every piece of feedback as he obsessively iterates on each product that wears the honorable Idaka name and slick Moccasion logo.

Pirring and Idaka Golf aren’t just offering a better polo. They’re offering a better experience and a better community. And, above all, a better brand to root for.

Because the little guys deserve love, too.

You can check out what Pirring is cooking up at Idaka Golf over on their website.

Wonder what the average handicap is of these people wearing the hip overpriced clothing?

Makes no sense to charge that much for polos and hoodies. Shoot, I can buy a just fine polo on sale for $35 pretty much anywhere.

Thanks for the marketing fluff. When are you going to tell us what is different about their product that justifies spending $119 for a golf shirt? I’ll take a pass on spending more for a shirt just for better customer service.

Josh, you are SO spot on! MyGolfSpy has NO value to me beyond ball and club testing.
