Greyson, Merrell Team Up for Unique Golf Shoe

Every so often while I’m mindlessly scrolling on social media, I see something that stops me dead in my tracks.

You can already guess why this one caught my eye.

I’m a sucker for cool shoes. Especially shoes that are unique. The new Greyson x Merrell Agility Peak 5 Zero definitely fits the bill.

I know what you’re thinking: Is it a trail shoe or a golf shoe?

It’s both. It’s probably the perfect shoe for slicers … you’re going to need something that can handle the woods!

I’m no stranger to the crossover potential of hiking and trail shoes to golf. I myself have explored this in great depth. That said, the Greyson x Merrell Agility Peak 5 Zero is more poised than any other hiking shoe to make a smooth transition to the golf course.

Here’s what I mean.

Behind the Design

  • Vibram MegaGrip outsole
  • GORE-TEX upper
  • FloatPro Foam midsole for step-in comfort
  • Engineered mesh construction with TPU overlays for abrasion resistance

Will it Golf?

While I don’t have my hands on a pair of this ultra-limited collab, I can attest to the overall design of the shoe. The rubber lugs themselves look robust enough to stand firm on the golf course and the high-top design is eerily similar to something NIKE did a few years back with its Shield line.

GORE-TEX is certainly a plus. So is the breathable mesh upper. It’s made to be waterproof down below and breezy up top.

In any case, the Greyson x Merrell Agility Peak 5 Zero is great for the trail or suitable for the golf course (pending you can actually get your hands on a pair). This limited shoe is available for Greyson members online and in-person at their Detroit storefront.

When you’ve got a Ragnar race at 7 a.m. and a tee time at noon, Greyson and Merrell have you covered.

So, I really like the spirit of this collab, but not necessarily the execution of the shoe. It’s a nice combo of two of my favorite activities (Trail Running & Golf). The sports are on the opposite ends of the money spectrum and I think it’s great to combine these two. All I ask for is more aid stations on the course!

I love Merrell shoes (great stuff!), and I search in the woods a fair amount for my ball, but I will not be trying these, haha. It is a hilarious mashup idea though, and it does have a lot of sense to it.

No thanks. I hate the high top look. How could a hiking boot possibly flex in the right places for a golfer, while still being a hiking shoe. I know you know this! You’ve written about flex previously. Just withdraw your advice, admit you like the polarizing looks, possibly offered an ill-advised review, and move on.

Soloman did this with a hiking shoe back in the mid 1990’s……so here it is again!

Fugly…… Pairs well with a Malbon sweater. I’m sure it works well, but wow.
