I Think These Are The Best Golf Grips Money Can Buy

Years ago, I bought a used Cobra F6 hybrid. It’s still one of my favorite clubs of all-time. I loved everything about it. The sound, the shape … but mostly, I just loved the grip that it had. Since that fateful second-hand purchase years ago, I’ve refused to use any other grip.

Nope, it’s not your typical Lamkin Crossline or Golf Pride Tour Velvet.

Get that crap outta here.

For my money, the best grip in golf is the Golf Pride CP2 Wrap. There are no if’s, and’s or but’s about it. The CP2 Wrap is the best grip out there. It’s perfectly tacky and soft, and doesn’t leave your hands feeling like you’ve been gripping sandpaper.

I’m not saying it’s going to enhance your performance or help you shoot lower scores. But I will say that if you aren’t satisfied with your current grip setup, you should give these guys a try.

Bonus points if you go with the midsize! They’re even more comfortable.

Con: The butt of the grips stick out too much, it has a rough lip on it that rubs my left palm in every swing. That gets really uncomfortable after a while.

The CP2 wrap is the only grip I use and have used for about 10 years. Heat, humidity, rain, cold, doesn’t matter. Feels great, I like a slightly softer grip, and they last plenty long as far as I’m concerned. I change the grips on my wedges & driver probably once a year (sometimes because I just want to) and the rest probably every other year. Your experience may not mirror mine, but I love these.

Best grip of all.I don’t have to change them every month like Lamkins. I’ve never had a problem when they got wet. Great feel, I use midsize.

I agree, these grips are great. I use the midsize in all my clubs. As another guy said though, they are soft grips so maybe not ideal for some that like a hard feeling grip. If you have ever liked a tour wrap style in the past, definitely worth a try. I was using a cord grip for the last 10 years but won’t be going back again.

Love the CP 2 wraps Jumbo Sized, but agree with others that they are too slippery when wet, especially humidity. Fantastic for spring and fall dry weather golf. Very comfortable. I have them on my back up set of clubs, but switched to Golf Pride’s MCC Plus 4 Jumbos for my main set. Not as comfy, but much better grip for the wet weather.

I’m new to golf and one thing that surprises me when it comes to grips is I have yet to find a golf shop that adequately displays and lets you test a grip. I’ve gone to a few local places as well as the larger places like PGA Store and DSG. What I mean by that is mounting the grip on a shaft so that you truly have a feel of what it’s like in use. With the grip being the connection from hand to club it’s so important to understand how that’s going to feel in a real world application.

Like you i got them on a used set of Ping irons from Ebay. My first thought was to change them to my go-to Ping ID8 grips. But after a couple rounds with CP2 I was very impressed with grip and feel. I ended up changing the rest of the Ping clubs in the set to the CP2. The thicker bottom half help with control and cushioning…nice.

I am sure tithes CPR 2 grips are pretty good but not great for the money> I prefer Star Wrap grips for the money $7.99 and Stars tackiness is unreal. I have been using my set for over 3 years and people are amazed at the condition they are in for their age. I spray them with dawn soap and water before every round and they feel like brand new tackiness as I live in the Southwest and don’t wear a glove. Did I mention these are made in the great USA, Arizona. I also put them on with air rather than tape and fluids.

4 years of CP2 midsize on all my clubs, great when fresh clean and dry, slippery when wet unless using wet weather gloves. Don’t know if I could go to anything else.

Star grips are great. I have a set of irons with Star grips that are 18 years old and they are as good as new – just keep them clean.

True, CP2’s are softer but as a retail store owner who carry’s over 600 grips I can tell you Star are much more tacky and stay that way longer, and made in the USA… underrated.

I’ve been using the CP2 since they first came out. I love them. However, I lean towards the CP2 Pro. I have used both and like both but prefer the non-wrap texture. I live in SC and have never had trouble with them being slick or wearing out too soon. I play about 3 times a week all year round.

I like the grip but they are pretty terrible when it gets wet. I’ve been playing them for a few years but have one or two tournament round in the rain and I just had to give them up.

I’m far from a grip afficiniado but my grip guy recommended the Golf Pride MCC+4’s and I’ve been very happy with them. Played ~110 rounds over two seasons and they still seem to be in good shape (not pressed to replace them). I wouldn’t call them tacky, but they’re grippy enough. I play in dry conditions (Colorado) and change my glove (FJ WeatherSoft) every 15-20 rounds.

I’ve got about 8 different grips at the moment throughout my set and agree. I love these. I have been experimenting with grip sizes and have these in Jumbo and love them. Haven’t got slick for me. I only golf in dry conditions, I can see how they might get slick otherwise. I do wonder about swingweight, but since I have so many different grips at the moment my swingweights are all over the place for now. My other favorite is the Jumbomaxx grips in XS size.

I’ve used both these and the sister grip the CP2 Pro. I like them both and would still be using them if I hadn’t bought XXIO clubs. These are too heavy to use on my XXIO’s. They goof up my swingweight.

I’m with most others in the comment section, i don’t rate these very highly at all.

Have got Lamkin Sonar+ on my wedges and have currently got the GolfPride CPX grips on my irons and they’re fine but the Lamkin’s are super tacky in near enough all conditions so once the CPX’s wear enough for me to justify the cost to change them i’ll not be hesitating to put the Sonar+ on my irons as well. Had the MCC+4 before the CPX’s and honestly they’re really good too tbh.

I prefer the GolfPride Tour Wrap. It’s softer and tackier than the CP2.
I tried CP2 earlier this year on a wedge, just to try it. The grip felt slick after only 2 months (about 12 rounds) and I went back to the Tour Wrap.

Everyone has their preferences, but the Golf pride reverse tour wrap is the longest lasting grip I have ever seen/used. 20 plus years at a 100 rounds/ year and the same amount of driving range sessions. A little periodic scrub with a light soap/abrasive and they are tacky like the 1st week. I have never replaced 1 of them yet.

They are shite for the price. They get slick after a month and you have to constantly change them out. If they are not getting slick after a month then you’re not hitting enough balls.
So if you’re changing them every month the money adds up. Way too expensive
