Is Callaway Elyte Worth the Upgrade?

Driver test results are in, and we now have a clearer picture of how the Callaway Elyte line stacks up against the competition. The real question remains. Is the Callaway Elyte worth the upgrade? With price points of $599 and $649, upgrading isn’t a small decision. Before making the switch, here’s what you should know.

Callaway Elyte 2025 driver results

The Callaway Elyte Triple Diamond had the best overall results out of the 37 drivers we tested in 2025. It ranked high both distance and accuracy (two categories that don’t always go hand in hand). While forgiveness was it’s weak point it still finished in the upper half of the test.

Why the Callaway Elyte drivers would be worth upgrading to

Here are a few reasons that you may want to consider upgrading to the Callaway Elyte line of drivers.

High ball speed would help your game

The average ball speed for the Elyte series was 142.16 mph. They were some of the fastest drivers we tested in 2025. If your game could benefit from a little extra speed, it may be time to upgrade.

The Elyte X had the highest ball speed of the three models we tested.

Distance matters to you

The average total distance across all three Elyte models was 250 yards. The Triple Diamond is the longest of the Elyte series at 251.76 yards on average (less than a half yard shorter than the longest in the test). Most importantly, the Triple Dimaond model maintained high levels of accuracy while still producing distance.

Spin rates are in check

As expected, the Elyte X had the highest backspin at 2531 rpm. The X is a great option for golfers who need a little higher launch. The Triple Diamond had the lowest average backspin of the three models at 2420 rpm, for anyone who wants to keep spin rates down.

You understand the importance of accuracy

The Triple Diamond was the second most accurate driver in the 2025 Best Golf Driver test. On average, it was just 2.58 yards offline, making it one of the straightest drivers in the test. This one metric really helped move the Triple Diamond up to the number one spot. Having a driver, you can hit both long and straight is a game changer.

You’re looking for performance across the board

For the Callaway Elyte drivers to finish first, sixth, and tenth, they had to be able to perform for distance, accuracy, and forgiveness.

The Tour Edge Exotics E725 was the best for accuracy, but because of its distance, it finished 12th in the overall test. The PXG Black Ops 0311 Tour-1 was best overall for forgiveness but finished 20th in the test because of distance and accuracy scores.

Keep versatility in performance in mind when deciding the best driver for your game.

Why to pass on upgrading to a Callaway Elyte

The Callaway Elyte drivers have a lot of good things going for them. However, here are a few things that may make you hold off on upgrading.

The 2024 models were pretty good too

If you invest in a Callaway Paradym AI Smoke Triple Diamond or an AI Smoke Max D, you are still playing with relevant technology. The Max D was the best driver for distance in 2024. Despite being draw biased, it helped golfers of all speeds and handicap levels gain extra yardage.

The Paradym Ai Smoke Triple Diamond is supposed to be the more difficult to hit but more accurate model for lower handicappers. However, it took second place overall in 2024. It is a versatile club with strong performance for distance, accuracy and forgiveness.

You’re budget is tight

‘The new Elyte X and Elyte are $599, and the Elyte Triple Diamond is $649. Last year’s models are now as low as $399.

What this all means for your upgrading decision

To truly know if the Callaway Elyte is for your game, go for a fitting. Here’s a basic recap to keep in mind:

  • If you’re looking for maximum accuracy combined with strong distance, the Elyte Triple Diamond is one of the best choices we found in our 2025 testing.
  • If you want a mix of distance and workability, the Elyte X offers balanced performance.
  • If you prioritize forgiveness, the standard Elyte model offers good consistency but might not be as long—on average, it was about 2.91 yards shorter than the longest Elyte model in testing.
