Is COBRA DS-Adapt Worth The Upgrade?

We tested the COBRA DS-Adapt Max K, X, LS and MAX D in 2025 and now have a clearer picture of how the lineup compares to the competition. The goal is to determine whether the COBRA DS-Adapt is worth the upgrade. While some new drivers on the market are $649, COBRA’s latest lineup is $549. That’s still a significant investment so it’s best to have the facts before deciding. Here is what you need to know about the COBRA DS-Adapt drivers.

COBRA DS-Adapt 2025 driver results

Two COBRA drivers finished in the top 10 in our 2025 Best Golf Driver test. The DS-Adapt Max K was the best we saw from COBRA with a fourth-place finish. The DS-Adapt LS finished eighth thanks to its distance capability. The DS-Adapt X was strong in the accuracy department but couldn’t produce the distance you get from the LS or the K.

Why the COBRA drivers would be worth upgrading to

Here are a few reasons you may want to consider upgrading to a COBRA DS-Adapt driver in 2025.

You want forgiveness without sacrificing distance

The COBRA DS-Adapt Max K finished in the top 10 for forgiveness and the LS was not far behind. We measure forgiveness by looking at the consistency of carry distance, ball speed and shot dispersion. One tester said the COBRA Max K had “very consistent center strikes. It’s forgiving across the entire face.”

Adjustability matters to you

The new COBRA DS-Adapt drivers feature the new FF33 hosel system. This system allows for 33 unique settings to give more adjustability in the head. While the accuracy scores on the COBRA drivers were not always the highest, you may be able to fine-tune some of that with the extra adjustability.

Extra distance will help your game

The COBRA DS-Adapt LS was the fourth-longest driver of the year with an average total distance of 251.03 yards. It also recorded the highest average ball speed in the entire test.

The Max K finished sixth with an average total distance of 250.84.

You’ll want to be careful with the Max D model if distance is a weakness in your game. It finished near the bottom for distance.

Why pass on upgrading to a COBRA DS-Adapt driver

The Max K and the LS were COBRA’s best-performing models. The X finished in the middle of the pack but the Max D struggled a bit. Here are a few reasons the DS-Adapt line may not be for you.

Accuracy was a little inconsistent across the board

As great as the Max K and the LS were in 2025 testing, the accuracy scores were not the strong point. One tester said about the LS, “I’d want a more extensive fitting to dial it in.” The great thing about the DS-Adapt line is that dialing it in is easier than ever with the FF33 hosel system.

If you want something with high accuracy, the Tour Edge Exotics E725 and the Callaway Elyte Triple Diamond are good options.

You want a traditional alignment aid

The alignment aid on the top of the Cobra driver is not overly obvious. Some testers struggled to see it.

You’re looking for a true budget-friendly option

The COBRA DS-Adapt is $549, considerably lower than some other options on the market. However, it’s not a “budget” driver. The Tour Edge Exotics E725, a $399 driver, was the best overall for accuracy.

In addition, the COBRA Darkspeed LS, one of the better-performing COBRA drivers of 2024, is on sale for $399.

What this all means for your upgrading decision
