There is a lot of cool gear in the golf equipment world that doesn’t always fit neatly into Most Wanted Tests or Buyer’s Guides. You still want to know how it performs. In our We Tried It series, we put gear to the test and let you know if it works as advertised.
What We Tried
The TRUE Antigravity Pro
Who Tried It
Ty. Soft Goods Testing Manager and McDonald’s defender. When I’m not testing golf gear, there’s a chance I’m chomping on a McDonald’s hamburger and a medium fry.
The TRUE Antigravity was one of TRUE’s best shoes. Is the Antigravity Pro any better?
The good

Call me Sinatra (because it’s time to be Frank), because I don’t think the Antigravity Pro has the necessary upgrades to choose the Pro over the O.G. Antigravity.
It’s slightly better but we’re looking at minimal changes. Of the changes made, these are the few positive ones that are worth mentioning:
- The upper of the Antigravity Pro was upgraded to TRUEdura which in turn enhanced the type of durability and structure. If you’re constantly braving the elements, this might make a difference, but it won’t affect the majority of casual golfers.
- The traction is a step up from the original Antigravity. The biggest thing the first Antigravity was lacking was solid traction. The Antigravity Pro is a major improvement but still well behind the industry standards for spikeless traction.
- The Antigravity Pro has a two-year waterproof warranty, double that of the first Antigravity. If you live in a wet climate, that guarantee might be worth looking into.
The bad

I don’t have a laundry list of reasons not to buy the Antigravity Pro but these are the things that didn’t sit right with me.
- While the traction was better than the original Antigravity, it’s still not good enough to rave about. You might survive dry conditions with slower swing speeds but I can assure you there are over a dozen better options if it’s wet outside and you swing hard.
- I don’t know the exact science behind it but I felt slightly less bounce in the Antigravity Pro compared to the original Antigravity. The Pebax midsole is the best part about the Antigravity line and I prefer the feel and overall bounce of the first Antigravity compared to the Pro. Again, I don’t know exactly why it felt less bouncy, but it did.
- Price, price, price. We’re only talking about $25 but you’re much better off buying the original Antigravity and putting that extra $25 towards your next tee time (or McDonald’s hamburgers and fries). The upgrades listed probably equal $25 but I believe the original Antigravity is a better shoe. Save $25 and stick to the O.G.
Final thoughts

The Antigravity Pro isn’t a bad shoe but it’s too similar to the original Antigravity to earn my respect and recommendation.
Sure, the upper is stronger and the traction was slightly upgraded but I can’t find a real good reason to justify recommending the Pro over the original.
My initial thoughts with the first Antigravity was the need for spiked traction alongside an enhanced removable insole. The Antigravity Pro got (slightly) better traction but the only other major upgrade was the TRUEdura upper.
The Antigravity Pro didn’t impress me anymore than the original. In fact, I’d say it impressed me slightly less.
