When I wrote about Odyssey’s last Damascus Milled putter release, I had a feeling they had one more release coming this summer.
However, I didn’t expect it to be three new putters, and I definitely didn’t expect Odyssey to attach the shafts on the opposite side of the head. Yes, my sinister friends, Odyssey is releasing three left-handed versions of their Damascus Milled line.
How nice of them to bring this frequently ignored cohort of golfers into the fold.
Fold, get it?
Did you see what I did there? I said “fold” as a reference to the bajillion times that the two steel alloys are folded and heat treated to make the Damascus Milled insert.
That’s clever verbiage right there. I’m one sharp cookie.
Sharp! Look, I did it again. Historically, Damascus steel was used for knives and swords. The steel is visually striking, characterized by the unique wave-like pattern created by the folding and finishing process.
The Damascus Milled insert won’t cut you but it may cut into your three-putts. Odyssey added a bit of their AI design magic to the insert. It’s not as assistive as their AI-DUAL insert but it will improve your rolls nonetheless.
I love the feel of this insert. It feels a bit like the Ai-ONE Milled insert from a few years back. However, I find that the Damascus Milled insert’s impact feel is not as harsh. It’s firm but not painfully so. This insert is one of my favorite 2026 putter innovations.
Two mallets, one blade
The Late Summer of Left-Handed Love Odyssey Damascus Milled release consists of two mallets and a blade. The selection of the Seven DB and Jailbird Mini for as the mallets was no big shocker. Those heads are very popular and probably the ones lefties have requested the most.
Unfortunately, the Square 2 Square build of the Seven is not available for zero-torque left-handers.
I was a little surprised that the third putter was the Two. The surprise wasn’t that it was the Two but rather that it was a blade at all.
Mallets are the rage these days.
Odyssey choosing the Two over the Rossi, the One Wide or the S2S Seven makes the statement that they believe that blade players are still out there. Even left-handed ones.
I’m not sure how many left-handed blade players are out there but Odyssey believes that there are enough to warrant the release.
The bottom line is that the Damascus Milled Two is an amazing looking blade, regardless of what side of the ball it ends up on at address.
No (other) five-finger discount or left-handed up-charge
In the spirit of fairness, Odyssey priced the left-handed Damascus Milled models at $699.99, just like the right-handed versions. While I didn’t expect them to cost less, a slight increase in price was not beyond the pale.
Being that these are 100-percent milled construction, Odyssey had to create completely new milling plans for the left-handed heads. As with all new putters, these design and production costs are woven into the admittedly expensive price for the putter.
I don’t have the production number but I believe Odyssey made way more right-handed versions than left-handed versions. This means the left-handed production cost is spread over fewer putters and that could have warranted a spike in the retail price.
But Odyssey kept the price the same. This is a cool move on their part. They took a hit in their profits rather than charging left-handers more. That’s not a typical bottom-line strategy for a company and I applaud them for it.
Regardless, left-handers can now experience the ultra-premium, limited-edition Odyssey Damascus Milled putter line.
