SuperStroke Announces new Lamkin-inspired REVL Grips

SuperStroke Announces new Lamkin-inspired REVL Grips

It’s been a little over eight months since SuperStroke shocked the golf grip world by acquiring the 100-year-old grip giant Lamkin.

At the time, it was heralded as a savvy move by SuperStroke. There was, however, more than a touch of sadness, as the deal marked the end of Lamkin family ownership.

But hey, that’s the world we live in. Nothing lasts forever.

Today SuperStroke is announcing its first new grip line since the acquisition, called the REVL. Note we said announcing, not launching, as the grips won’t be available until sometime this spring. With the PGA Show coming next week, however, it’s clearly time for SuperStroke to make some noise.

Here’s what we know

Granted, it ain’t much.

According to SuperStroke, REVL is sorta/kinda short for “revolutionary.” The company says REVL combines SuperStroke’s “cutting-edge design with Lamkin’s legendary engineering.” REVL will feature three options, called Fusion, Player and Comfort for golfers who prioritize control, durability or comfort.

The new grips will pay homage to the Lamkin legacy. Each REVL grip will be stamped with a “Lamkin 100” badge on the butt end. SuperStroke says PGA TOUR pros Jordan Spieth, Patrick Cantlay and Justin Rose will be using the new grips this coming season.

Other than that, today’s release is predictably cryptic. There’s no info on pricing, but SuperStroke does say the REVL line will be based on two of Lamkin’s most iconic grips, the Crossline 2.0 and Crossline 2.0 Full Cord. While we do know this new line will be under the SuperStroke name, we don’t know whether SuperStroke will be releasing grips under the Lamkin name in the future.

Also hidden in the release is this:

“REVL has been designed to signify a turning point in the way golfers purchase and use their golf grips.”

We have no idea what that means, but you can bet a barrel-full of Lamkin’s we’re going to find out. The SuperStroke booth will be one of our first stops in Orlando next week.
