Hey, I tried a new ball today when I guy at the course gave me a attomax ball. He claimed it was matched to my swing speed and would fly like a rocket. It played all right, but was not any longer than my Srixon Q Star Tour. It did seem to spin less off the driver and it took a couple of holes to get the hang of putting it. After the round we looked it up online and found out it is non-conforming. The real shock though was that it cost $20.75 per ball. That right! $20.75 per ball. Ridiculous!

As a player with an extra-slow swing speed (~70-75mpg), I have tried all of those balls and none of them work well for me. The Legato LTX3085 (from Amazon) goes farther off the tee for me than any of the balls listed above.

Warbirds? Come on people. Just walk around in the woods for an hour and play what you find there. Or just borrow a few range balls.

I don’t know why anyone buys new – unless playing competitively – when there are so many quality online retailers selling used golf balls in various qualities. Lostgolfballs.com is a favourite of mine, there are many others. I play TP5/TP5X and can’t afford $75 Cdn plus 13% tax, especially when I tend to lose a sleeve per round. Near-mint is usually excellent, and mint are one-hit wonders!

Two of the top three brands are soft compression. To me; soft = slow and slow = less distance. I believe I learned that from MGS. Apparently a great number of golfers have a lot of learning to do.

There can be some good golf ball deals on Amazon if you’re watching. Plus if you have Prime and an Amazon CC the deal can be even better. FWIW that Legato golf ball is really good and many times it’s < $25/box.

Please don’t take this the wrong way, but why do I care about the best-selling golf balls on Amazon? It brings no value other than answering a possible curiosity. It appears to be a filler piece that truly has no relation to the MGS core mission (Tried, Tested, True). I like your instructional articles Brittany and would like to see more of those. They add value to the MGS content. That said, it’s been over six months for example since the last Ball Lab but there have been a slew of new ball releases in the last 12 months that are worthy of evaluation. To borrow an idiom, maybe it’s time for MGS to “dance with the one that brung you.”

Was just perusing the ball selection at the local WalMart this morning….they are in line with the shipping giant’s pricing. Overall – the market is saturated with PG (prior gen) balls – May see pricing go even lower as inventories have to clear to make room for the new stuff….

Well I just heard the news article about how Walmart has caught up to Amazon with its quick delivery if not same day delivery if the items are available in your local area store, if there is an actual store in your area.
So I think they are catching up as far as some items, though obviously Amazon covers way more items.
Point being, there can be some deals to be had there.
