2025 Masters Cut Line: Big Names Who Won’t Play the Weekend

Earlier this week, we shared the odds for the Masters, highlighting some big names considered favorites to contend. As is the Masters policy, the field was cut to the top 50 players and ties after Friday’s second round. The cut line was two over par, just one shot below the historical average. Here are some pros who usually stick around for the weekend but won’t be there this year.

Russell Henley (79-68)

After a first round of 79, it was easy to count Henley out. He got things going early on Friday and was looking like he might pull it off. A bogey on the 18th hole ended his comeback attempt and he missed the cut by one.

Dustin Johnson (74-73)

Dustin Johnson, 2020 Masters champion, doubled the 18th hole in Round 2 and that was it for him. He came into the Masters having missed three of his last five major cuts and hasn’t looked sharp on LIV, either. Betting markets listed him at +160 to miss the cut.

Keegan Bradley (74-73)

Keegan Bradley made a double on the front nine Friday and never found his footing after that. Bogeys at 14 and 17 meant he needed a birdie on 18 just to have a chance and it didn’t happen.

Tony Finau (75-73)

Tony Finau was in trouble after Round 1. Despite a strong front nine in Round 2, three bogeys on the back derailed his hopes.

Sepp Straka (78-71)

Sepp Straka nearly pulled off one of the more dramatic comebacks of the tournament. After opening with a 78, he was five under through 16 holes Friday. But a bogey on 17 and a triple on 18 ended his charge.

Cameron Smith (71-78)

Cameron Smith started with a solid 71 but shot 42 on the back nine Friday, a stretch that took him from comfortably inside the cut to well outside it.

Other notable cuts

  • Billy Horschel – 77-72
  • Phil Mickelson – 75-74
  • Brooks Koepka – 74-75
  • Sergio Garcia – 72-76
  • Adam Scott – 77-72
  • Will Zalatoris – 74-78
  • Cameron Young – 72-79

On the flip side, two players who did manage to claw their way inside the number were Patrick Cantlay, who birdied the 18th, and JJ Spaun, who rolled in a birdie on 17 to stick around for the weekend.
