Odyssey 2-Ball V-Line Putter Pics

Back in September we gave you a sneak-peek of what almost all the new Odyssey Putter Line for 2010 will look like…the line is called “White Ice”. Well a few other pics have been leaking in of additional models they will be carrying in’10. The one featured below will be called the Odyssey 2-Ball V-Line.

Guess This Phrase?

Seeing these photos of this putter made a certain popular phrase come to mind although it has been altered we thought maybe we would give a prize away to a random winner who gets it right:

  • The Phrase is = (SPDY)

im not liking the looks of this putter at all. it looks way too cheap. this putter is practically the original 2 ball with a different color and a couple slivers of metal added onto the sides to make it a triangle. if it works or not i still think people will buy it because of the name.

Yes sir, I was the proud winner of “THE MOST INSANE GOLF BLOG CONTEST EVER!!!” I one 3rd place, that included the very beautiful Byon Morgan 20th aniversary putter (nicest putter I have ever owned and probably ever will own) Thanks again!!

      mygolfspy

That was a pretty damn sweet stick! But wait until ’10 when this new putter company debuts. I think you might have to take a shot at replacing the Morgan. They are amazing looking…and the feel is insane.

Has anyone ever counted the number of knock-off atributed to the Odyssey 2-ball? I’d say that has to be a form of flattery.

To each his own… If it knocks down putts for someone, so be it.

There have been a lot of them I know that. But not because it was a good putter…but because it sold well…and was marketed well.

Yeah, its kind of like music on the radio. Most of it isn’t all that great, just marketed well. It pays to search and discover the “good stuff” that is truely fresh, innovative and produced by talented musicians.

the only person more upset with the so called yearly “re-inavation” of the 2-ball putter than the general public has got to be dave pelz for pawning off the rights to odyssey/callaway for what is now a mere $250k. call it what you will but how many multi-millions of units of this putter have they sold and continue to sell.remember there catering to the less than average player or beginer who has at least heard of the 2-ball putter and as long as the price points remain fair will probally own one. callaway’s just doing there job, there’s not much more r+d can do to this sad looking thing but mark my words “it will sell”!!

Did Pelz sell the design to the three-ball – the one with three actual balls. I thought that putter was non-conforming? Was the design sold after the ‘plain in shape’ putter rule was changed?

pelz invented the ball ailgnment putter which he had plans and patents for a 2-3 and even a 4 ball putter. he only produced the 3-ball putter in limited release[you can still find them on ebay from time to time] which actually used 3 proto/golf balls as the visual aid. it was on its way to sucess when the usga outlawed it”plain in shape” as you said chris was adopted. pelz sat on the rights for years until callaway bought them for $250k. at that point in time it was callaways gamble because they had to alter the design”s submit prototypes and cross their fingers the usga would conform it. pelz said he never thought the usga would accept it. the rest is history!

Odyssey’s new Black Series Tour Design putters look fantastic. There’s even a B60 style head and a few blades although no 8802/Napa style a yet which everyone would love. If Callaway brought out a new range without our old favourites wouldn’t we all complain?

I agree 100%. Putter manufacturer’s are becoming like games company EA Sports – just minor tweaks between releases. Putters should be part art and part science instead of the bottom line. I can see little benefit in an upgrade if you’re just changing the head and face colour. There are incredible designs coming from Japan and smaller U.S. custom makers. Perhaps a Top 10 is in order MGS? Having said that a beautifully made Anser is a work of art to me…

Same Putter Different Year… My initial joke about a White Ice Cube putter now seems depressing. I guess Odyssey’s market research tells them to play it safe. Is it me or does it look like a knock-off from above? Although a black Rossie is a first I think. And why does the rear of the two balls always look bigger than the front one.

I’m not sure what the phrase is you’re referring to, but Odyssey is showing the lamest attempt at a “NEW” product line I’ve ever seen. The V-Line? Are you joking me? White Ice? I’d take a Rife, Scotty, Slotline, Gauge, Ping, Bettinardi, Machine, and a bevy of others before I’d buy an Odyssey.
