While the PING Hoofer earned the title of best overall stand bag of 2025, we wanted to take a closer look at how these two top golf bag manufacturers stacked up. If you’re deciding between PING and Callaway stand bags, here’s what you need to know.
PING versus Callaway stand bags
All four PING stand bags earned a top-10 finish in 2025. They dominated the test.
The Callaway Fairway 14 made the top 10 as well but the other three Callaway bags ranked outside the top 15. Still, with 45 bags tested, three of Callaway’s four stand bags finished in the top half.

Head to head: PING Hoofer versus Callaway Fairway 14
While the PING Hoofer took first place overall, the Callaway Fairway 14 was named the best hybrid golf bag of 2025.
Testers loved the Hoofer’s storage, below-average weight and excellent balance when carrying. The updated top and base made club removal easier. The Hoofer does have leg guards and a cart-strap channel so it works for walking or riding.
The Callaway Fairway 14’s standout feature was the 14-way Shaft Shield top designed to keep clubs protected and separated. The Fairway 14 also has a Lowrider 2.0 base for more stability and storage capacity.
Bottom Line: If you walk, the PING Hoofer is the better choice. If you take a cart, the Callaway Fairway 14 has a lot to offer.
The others
The other three PING bags that made the top 10 are the PING Hoofer 14, PING Hoofer Lite and PING Moonlander.
The PING Hoofer 14 was the best midweight carry bag for 2025. It’s a great choice for anyone who wants to stay organized on the golf course. The Hoofer 14 is virtually the same as the PING Hoofer except it features a 14-way top which adds some weight. If you play with oversized grips, be careful going with the PING Hoofer 14 because it’s a little more difficult to pull the clubs out of a 14-way top.
The PING Hoofer Lite is the best bag for walking in 2025. It’s a simpler design with a four-way top, nine pockets and just enough storage to keep you prepared without weighing you down. However, if you want the lightest carry bag possible, the Hoofer Lite is not it. It weighs just over five pounds.
