We’re back to tackle the age-old question, does the price of your putter really matter? Should you spend an extra $200 for top-tier performance, or can a budget-friendly option help you sink just as many putts? To find out, we put our best overall blade putter, the Evnroll Neo Classic ER2, against the best value blade putter, the Cleveland HB Soft 2 #1. Without giving too much away, if you’re a value-conscious golfer, you may have just discovered one of the smartest deals of 2024.
Putt Distance Five Feet
When testing the best blade putters, we evaluate performance from five feet, 10 feet, and 20 feet. Scores are weighted with 55% for 10-foot putts, 25% for five-foot putts, and 20% for 20-foot putts. This method ensures that our results for the best golf putters of 2024 are those that are most likely to perform when a one-putt is needed.
The Evnroll Neo Classic ER2 was the best overall putter from five feet. It scored a perfect 10/10 from this distance. Golfers who struggle with shorter putts will want something as solid and stable as the Evnroll. For 60% of the testing pool, the Evnroll Neo Classic ER2 was the best putter from five feet.
The Cleveland HB Soft 2 #1 finished more in the middle of the pack with a score of 8/10. It won’t be your most reliable choice for the short ones.
Putt Distance 10 Feet
If you look at the 5-foot putts as the need to make, the 10-foot is more of the nice to make putts. The more of these you can drain, the easier it is to get up and down, lower your score, etc.
From 10 feet, Evnroll scored 8.9 compared to Cleveland’s 8.1.
We tested a total of 39 putters in this 2024 test. The Evnroll’s score of 8.9 leaves it in a tie for the third-best putter from 10 feet.
Cleveland is tied for 4th.
Both putters held their own from 10 feet in a competitive putter test. The best putter from 10 feet is the T-Squared Putters TS-912.
Putt Distance 20 Feet
At this point, you should have a pretty good idea of how the Evnroll putter earned top honors in this 2024 blade putter testing. With a first-place finish from five feet and third place from 10 feet, it must be amazing from 20 feet, right?
Not quite.
The results from 20 feet explain exactly why we test putters from three different distances.
The Evnroll scores 7.1/10 from 20 feet and fell well outside the top 10 from this distance.
Cleveland, on the other hand, finished first place overall from 20 feet with a score of 9.8/10. If you need help with your lag putting more than the knee knockers, the Cleveland is a smart choice.
Value
Now, here’s where things get interesting. The Evnroll ER2 costs $399, and the Cleveland HB Soft costs $149. It’s a $250 difference.
From a performance standpoint, the Evnroll finished first overall and the Cleveland sixth. The Evnroll’s consistency and accuracy are definite advantages, especially on putts 10 feet and under.
Cleveland did well at 20 feet and hung in there during the 10-foot performance. However, the feel, look, and overall design of the Cleveland and Evnroll putters obviously differ.
The Bottom Line
Go get fitted and see which one works best for you.
The most important thing to take away here is that performance and price don’t always go hand in hand. While the Cleveland wasn’t the cheapest putter in the 2024 test, it still is a very fair price considering its performance. Don’t turn away a less expensive putter simply because it’s less expensive.

What does this even mean? How tangible is this? What value does 0.8 add to a person looking to improve putting inside 10-ft.
